Removing And Installing (Main) Catalytic Converter

Preliminary work

Preliminary work: Removing main catalytic converter







NOTE: Please read the most important working regulations and warning notes.

ATTENTION: Danger of burns from hot exhaust system.
- Only remove the exhaust system once it has cooled down.
- Wear protective gloves.







1. Remove engine guard.







2. Remove front cardan shaft.
3. Support transmission with transmission jack.

Removing (main) catalytic converter







1. Release connecting straps between the catalytic converters and the exhaust system. Then push the straps backwards onto the exhaust system. The exhaust straps must not be reused.







2. Bend main catalytic converter and loosen three fastening nuts for the primary catalytic converter.







3. Loosen the catalytic converter holder on the body -left arrow-.
4. Remove catalytic converter. The metal seal must be replaced.

Installing (main) catalytic converter

NOTE: Replace seals, fastening nuts and clamp.

1. Place new metal seal on the flange of the catalytic converter. Slide new exhaust clamp onto the exhaust pipe.
2. Place catalytic converter in installation position. Place new copper nuts on the studs of the catalytic converter.







3. Position the catalytic converter holder on the body (M8 screws) -left arrow-.
4. Tighten fastening nuts on catalytic converter flange. Tightening torque 17 ft.lb.
5. Replace exhaust clamps. The threaded joints must be pointing downwards. The inclination of the exhaust clamps must be adjusted. Adjustment value 7.5 degrees Tightening torque 44 ft.lb.
6. Tighten the catalytic converter holder on the body (M8 screws). Tightening torque 17 ft.lb.

1. Install front cardan shaft.







2. Install engine guard.
