Removing and installing engine mounting
Preliminary work

1. Support engine on the body.
2. Remove engine guard.
3. Remove front axle until the engine carrier can be removed.

Removing engine mounting


WARNING: Danger of injury!
--> When working on the engine suspension, the engine must be appropriately secured against falling or lowering.
--> Never use defective lifting equipment.
--> Only use lifting equipment tested and approved by Porsche.
--> The components are very heavy. There is a danger of crushing.
--> Wear protective gloves.
--> Please observe general warning notes.


Note:
^ This task can only be performed in the Cayenne S (M48/00) if the engine has been removed or suspended on the body. This description covers suspension on the body.
^ In the Cayenne Turbo (M48/50), the engine must be removed. Thereafter the turbocharger needs to be removed.

Hydraulic Mount:





1. Undo the two fastening screws -arrows- to the left and right on the hydraulic mounts.

Engine Carrier:





2. Undo the two fastening screws from the engine carrier to the body and remove the engine carrier.-centre arrow-
3. Undo engine mounts. To do this, undo the fastening nuts on the support arms and remove the engine mounts.

Installing engine mounting


Note:
^ The engine mounts must be aligned using the engine carrier.
^ The engine mounts differ (left/right) and must not be interchanged.

1. Position engine mounts on the support arm. When doing so, note the positioning pin on the mount. It must engage in the recess on the support arm.
2. Position new fastening nuts and screw them on so that the positioning pin cannot pop out. Do not tighten the fastening nuts.

Fastening Screws For Hydraulic Mount:





3. Fit the engine carrier --> Fastening screws for hydraulic mount. Position the fastening screws (M10 x 45) for the hydraulic mounts and tighten them. Tightening torque 44 ft. lbs..
4. Tighten engine mounts on the engine. Tighten the fastening nuts. Tightening torque 56 ft. lbs..

Subsequent work

1. Screw in new fastening screws for securing the engine carrier to the body. Initial tightening 89 ft. lbs.. Torque angle 180°
2. Install front axle.
3. Install engine guard.
