Vehicle Type:
Cayenne/Cayenne S/Cayenne Turbo

Model Year:
As of 2003 (3)

Concerns:
Reprogramming of the DME after programming interruptions have occurred is now possible as of PIWIS Tester Version 4.0.

Work Procedure:

1. Open the fuse box in the engine compartment cowl area and remove fuses 1 (60 Amp) and 2 (30 Amp) to disable the engine compartment fans.

2. Connect a suitable 40 Amp charger on vehicle.

Note!
It is possible that during programming, the PIWIS tester display will go dark because of the screen saver. This will not affect programming. The screen saver can be deactivated at any time by touching the screen.

3. Select "Cayenne" in the main menu.

4. Highlight "DME" and select "F12" to continue.

5. Highlight "Control Unit Programming" and select "F12" to continue.

6. Highlight "Program Control Unit" and select "F12" to continue.

7. The PIWIS Tester will display the following message. Continue with "F12".

8. Programming conditions will appear on your screen. Verify that all conditions are met and continue with "F12".

9. Specify the vehicle type. Confirm with "F7" and continue with "F12".

Attention:
Failure to select the correct data record may cause irreparable damage to the DME.

10. Select Model Year and continue with "F12".

11. Select Transmission type and continue with "F12".

12. Highlight the correct exhaust standard and continue with "F12".

Note!
The DME can be programmed in a fast (sprinter) and a slow (snail) mode by selecting the "F6" button.

13. Select "F6" (picture of a snail) so that "Programming mode: slow" appears at the top of your screen then select "F8" to continue with programming (Figures 11 & 12).

Note!
Reprogramming of a DME after an Interruption has occurred can only be performed in Slow Programming Mode. Failure to do so will cause irreparable damage to the DME.

14. Programming in slow mode will take approximately 2.5 hours to complete.

15. Switch the ignition "off" and then "on" to complete programming. "Programming was completed successfully" should appear at the top of your screen (Figure 14 & 15).

16. Reinstall fuses 1 and 2 in fuse panel.

17. Read out and clear fault memory.
