Body Side Moulding Installation Instructions

Note:
The plastic protective side mouldings, which can be painted in body color, protect the door sides against damage and add a custom styling touch to the Cayenne.

Preparatory work

ATTENTION

Painting components

^ Risk of warping of components

^ Risk of damage to components

--> Observe the guidelines and instructions for painting components in the "Paint" Workshop Manual.

--> Always place parts without tension on the painting devices provided during painting and drying processes.

1.1 Paint all ready-primed parts to match the vehicle's color code in accordance with instructions in the Paint Workshop Manual.

1.2 Check gaps between the doors and between the doors and fender and adjust them if necessary --> Workshop Manual '575115 Adjusting front door' --> Workshop Manual '585775 Adjusting rear door'.





1.3 Clean bonding area --> figure 3-A-on doors

2. Stick self-adhesive template to the front door.





2.1 Remove protective film --> Figure 5-A- from the lower edge of the template.

2.2 Position and stick the template on the dry door.





2.2.1 Mark a line (--> Figure 6-A-) on the edge of the door (--> Figure 6-B-).

2.2.2 Align the lower edge of the template (--> Figure 6-C-) flush with the door moulding (aluminum, --> Figure 6

Check dimension "X" between the edge of the door (--> Figure 6-B-) and the end of the template is:

Length 4 mm +/- 1 mm.





NOTE:
Spray the door or template with window cleaner if necessary (--> Figure 7 item A). This allows you to move the template slightly on the door.

2.3 Fold down the template.

2.4 Remove protective film from the template.

2.5 Stick on the template without bubbles using a spatula (--> Figure 7-B-).

2.6 Stick self-adhesive templates to the rear doors in the same way.

ATTENTION

Affixing components using adhesive tape

^ Risk of damage to the vehicle or paintwork

^ Risk of damage to components

--> Clean bonding surfaces to remove any dust and grease.

--> Use clean, lint-free disposable cloths for cleaning.

--> Do not touch the bonding surfaces with your fingers.

--> The object (component, vehicle) and ambient temperature must be at least 59° F (15° C).

--> Press component on with a suitable tool (rubber roller) using the prescribed pressure.

3. Stick protective side moulding to the front door.

3.1 Clean grease and dust off the bonding surface using a cleaning cloth.

Note:
Observe 'L = Left' or 'R = Right' marking embossed on the back of each protective side moulding.





3.2 Get the protective side moulding for the relevant vehicle side and door ready (right side --> Figure 8-A-).

3.3 Remove the protective film from the adhesive strip on the moulding.





3.4 Precisely position the protective side moulding with respect to the template, align it and press on --> Figure 9.

Pressure 50 N.

3.5 Carefully pull the template off the door.

3.6 Stick protective side mouldings to the rear doors in the same way.

4. Once you have fitted all protective side mouldings, check the gaps and clearance of the protective side mouldings by opening and closing the doors.
