Main Headlight Shaking While Driving

Concerns:
Main headlight shaking while driving due to loose fastening screws.

Information:
In the event of a complaint, the front fastening screws of both main headlight mountings need to be secured with Loctite (medium strength).

Tools:
Torque wrench 0-30 Nm (0-22 ftlb.)

Work Procedure:

Fasten the front fastening screws for the main headlight mounting with Loctite (medium strength).

1. Remove both wheel-housing liners according to the Workshop Manual, Group 5, Chapter 50 56 19.

2. Remove front spoiler according to the Workshop Manual, Group 6, Chapter 63 15 19.

3. Remove both main headlights according to the Workshop Manual, Group 9, Chapter 94 15 19.

Note:

There were two different main headlight mountings used which need to be secured with the correct fastening screws:

- previous main headlight mounting with part numbers, 955.631.041.00/955.631.042.00

- new main headlight mounting with part numbers, 955.631.041.01/955.631.042.01/955.631.041.02/955.631.042.02





4. Unscrew fastening screw 1 (Figure 1, Item 1) of the main headlight mounting, apply Loctite (medium strength) to the threads and tighten to the prescribed tightening torque.

Tightening torque: 7 Nm (5 ftlb.).

5. Unscrew fastening screw 2 (Figure 1, Item 2) of the main headlight mounting, apply Loctite (medium strength) to the threads and tighten to the prescribed tightening torque.





6. Instal! and adjust both main headlights according to the Workshop Manual, Group 9, Chapter 94 15 19.

7. Install front spoiler according to the Workshop Manual, Group 6, Chapter 63 15 19

8. Install wheel-housing liner according to the Workshop Manual, Group 5, Chapter 50 56 19

9. Ignition "On".

10. Carry out a function check of the headlights.

11. Ignition "Off".
