Tools
Technical values
Preliminary work
INFORMATION: The precondition for exact adjustment of the front door window is that the door is perfectly adjusted and correctly locked in the lock peg in accordance with the joining plan. Refer to Diagram - body gap dimensions.
1. Close the front door window -1- fully -arrow-.
2. Remove door trim panel. Refer to Removing and installing door trim panel.
3. Pull off rubber sleeves on the door sub-frame at the top left and right.
4. Pull off rubber sleeves -1- on the door at the bottom left and right.
Adjusting front door window
1. Open the door and lock the door lock/rotary latch in the main catch.
2. Loosen fastening screws -1- used to secure the door window glass -arrows-.
3. Loosen fastening nuts -arrow- on the bottom of the window lifter.
4. Close the locked door until the door lock/rotary latch engages at the lock peg.
INFORMATION: The door window glass must be guided in under the sealing lip using your hand (risk of damage to roof frame seal).
5. Check the seal running along the glass edge of the roof frame.
6. Align the door window glass in -X- and -Z- direction until the glass edge is flush with the seal on the roof frame. Adjust at the adjusting screws on the drivers if necessary.
INFORMATION: The adjusting screws of the drivers for the upper limit stops for the door window height are accessible through two holes at the bottom of the door.
Adjustment procedure:
- Adjust the upper limit stops of the drivers by screwing the fastening screw -arrow- in or out using an E6 socket in or against the direction of travel.
- Adjust the drivers so that they meet the upper limit stops at the same time.
7. Tighten fastening screw on the front mounting piece. Tightening torque: 8.5 Nm (6 ftlb.) ± 1.5 Nm (±1 ftlb.)
8. Rear door window (B-pillar): Slide mounting piece in -Z- direction until the glass edge is flush with the seal on the roof frame. Adjust at the adjusting screws on the drivers if necessary.
9. Tighten fastening screw on the rear mounting piece. Tightening torque: 8.5 Nm (6 ftlb.) ± 1.5 Nm (±1 ftlb.)
INFORMATION: Always slide the window lifter rails forward and back in parallel to avoid straining them.
10. Use a calliper gauge Nr.139 Pos.1 to adjust the door window glass in -Y- direction. Adjustment value: 45 mm ± 1 mm
The preset dimension gives the pressing force of the edge of the door window on the door seal at the top and sides.
If the control dimension is not reached with the standard preset dimension, the preset dimension must be adapted as required until the control dimension is observed in each case.
11. Tighten fastening nuts on the bottom of the window lifter. Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)
12. Unlock door lock/rotary latch.
13. Check closing depth of door window glass.
13.1. Close the door.
13.2. Use a wax marker to mark the door window glass along the roof frame seal.
13.3. Actuate the door handle until the window lowering function is activated. Window lowering function -X = approx. 11 mm-.
13.4. Check the control dimensions along the door window glass by examining the wax-marker marking and change the setting if necessary.
Control dimension for section -A-A-. Control dimension: 4.5 mm + 1.5 mm
Control dimension for section -B-B-. Control dimension (Coupe): 5 mm + 1.5 mm. Control dimension (Targa): 4 mm + 1.5 mm
Control dimension for section -C-C-. Control dimension: 0 mm + 2 mm
14. Check side window setting and adjust it if necessary. Refer to Removing and installing rear side window.
Subsequent work
1. Press in rubber sleeves -1- on the door at the bottom left and right.
2. Press in rubber sleeves on the door sub-frame at the top left and right.
3. Install door trim panel. Refer to Removing and installing door trim panel.
