Removing navigation unit
NOTE: If the navigation unit has to be replaced, the coding must be read out prior to removal using the PIWIS tester P 9718.
Remove ignition key.
Depending on the equipment I No., the navigation unit is located next to or on the CD - changer.
1. Push the removal tool 9570/1 -1- into the navigation unit and pull the navigation unit forward.
2. Unlock the electrical plug -1, 2, 3- on the navigation unit and pull out the navigation unit.
Removing the navigation unit with retaining bracket
NOTE:
- If the navigation unit has to be replaced, the coding must be read out prior to removal using the PIWIS tester P 9718.
- If the navigation unit is removed with the retaining bracket, then new clips must be used before reinstallation.
1. Give the navigation unit with the retaining bracket a pull forward, and lever out the clips with a screwdriver if necessary.
2. Unlock the electrical plug -1, 2, 3- on the navigation unit and remove the navigation unit with holder.

1. Push the removal tool 9570/1 -1- into the navigation unit and pull the navigation unit forward.
2. Unlock the electric connectors on the navigation unit and pull out the navigation unit.
Removing the navigation unit (US version)
ATTENTION:
Voltage peaks can damage the audio system.
- Before unplugging/removing audio components, remove ignition key and switch off audio system.
NOTE: If the navigation unit has to be replaced, the coding must be read out prior to removal using the PIWIS tester P 9718.
1. Remove navigation unit.
1.1. Insert disassembly tool 9570/1 -2- into the navigation unit -1- -arrows A- and lift up the navigation unit -1- -arrow B-.
1.2. Release the connector -3 to 5- on the navigation unit -1- and pull off -arrow C-.
Pull out -1- navigation unit -arrow B-.
2. Remove retaining frame for navigation unit.
2.1. Give the retaining frame -1- a pull upward, and lever out the clips -2- with a screwdriver if necessary.
Installing navigation unit
1. Insert the navigation unit into the retaining bracket and plug into the electrical plug connections -1, 2, 3- until the plug is felt to click into place.
2. Slide the navigation unit further into the retaining bracket until the navigation unit is felt to click into place.
Installing navigation unit
1. Insert the navigation unit into the retaining frame and plug in the electric plug connections until the connectors engage securely.
2. Slide the navigation unit further into the retaining bracket until the navigation unit is felt to click into place.
Installing the navigation unit with retaining bracket
NOTE: If the navigation unit is removed with the retaining bracket, then new clips must be used before reinstallation.
1. Install new clips , push in the navigation unit in the retaining bracket until the navigation unit is felt to engage.
2. Push in electrical plug connections -1, 2, 3- until plugs are felt to engage.
3. Position the navigation unit with retaining bracket on the body and push into the four holders. Check proper seating of holder by pulling up on the retaining bracket.
Installing the navigation unit (US version)
1. Install retaining frame for navigation unit.
1.1. Push new clip -2- onto the retaining frame for navigation unit -1-.
1.2. Position the retaining bracket for navigation unit -1- on the body and push into the four holders. Check proper seating by pulling up on the retaining frame for navigation unit -1-.
NOTE: If the navigation unit is removed with the retaining bracket, then new clips must be used before reinstallation.
2. Install navigation unit.
2.1. Insert navigation unit -1- in the retaining frame -arrow A- and push on connector -3 to 5- -arrow B-.
2.2. Slide the navigation unit -1- further into the retaining bracket -arrow A- until the navigation unit is felt to engage.
Programming navigation unit
Reading out and writing values for navigation unit
WARNING:
Sudden voltage interruption of the power supply to the control module.
- Destruction of the control module.
- During programming, it is essential to guarantee the power supply for the Porsche System tester. It is essential to connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least 40 A to the vehicle battery.
- Prior to disconnecting the control module, switch off the ignition and remove the ignition key.
NOTE:
- The PIWIS tester 9718 instructions take precedence and in the event of a discrepancy these are the instructions that must be followed. Deviations may occur with later software versions.
- The procedure described here has been structured in general terms; different text or additions may appear in the PIWIS tester 9718.
1. Connect the Porsche System tester to the vehicle and start the System tester. Switch on ignition. .>>" Continue.
2. Select the vehicle type.
3. Switch from the vehicle type to the list of control units.
4. Select PCM 2.1, Navigation with the cursor keys and press the .>>" key.
5. Select Control unit replacement with the cursor keys and press the .>>" key.
6. Select Read out codings (codings) with the cursor keys and press .>>".
7. The message Codes successfully read out appears on the screen of the Porsche System tester. Press .>>".
8. Switch off ignition and replace control unit.
9. Switch to the Special functions menu and perform the vehicle handover using the .F8" key.
10. In the Special functions menu, erase All fault memories by pressing .>>".
11. Carry out automatic search of control units.
12. In the menu Write in codings .>>" the data read-out are installed.
13. System tester displays Coding write-in complete .>>".
14. Quit menu, insert navigation CD, switch off ignition and lock the vehicle, then unlock, switch on ignition and load navigation CD.
15. Perform navigation during the test drive and afterwards read out fault memory.
Coding navigation unit

4. In the Special functions menu, erase All fault memories by pressing .>>".
5. Carry out automatic search of control units.
6. Using the .>>" key, move from the vehicle type to the list of control units.
7. Select PCM 2.1, Navigation with the cursor keys and press the .>>".
8. Select Coding and press the .>>".
9. In the menu Coding the PCM code has to be displayed using *.
10. Quit menu, insert navigation CD, switch off ignition and lock the vehicle, then unlock, switch on ignition and load navigation CD.
11. Perform navigation during the test drive and afterwards read out fault memory.
