Both Cabriolet models have a bodyshell structure tailored to the specific requirements of an open-top vehicle. This bodyshell is lightweight but at the same time has extremely high torsional rigidity and meets all design specifications for a high level of passive safety.

The new 911 Carrera/S Cabriolet has acquired an even more dynamic appearance compared to the previous 911 Carrera (996) model. The track has been widened and the mid-section has been made narrower. The vehicle now has an even more powerful silhouette thanks to the clear lines of the vehicle and increased emphasis on the rear end using wider quarter panels.

The visual differences between the two Cabriolet derivatives 911 Carrera and 911 Carrera S are based on the corresponding Coupe
