Preliminary work for convertible top wiring harness
1. Remove convertible-top covering.
Preliminary work for wiring harness for roll-over protection system
1. Disconnect battery.
2. Remove roll-over bar.
Removing wire harness for convertible top
Removing plastic panel
1. Remove plastic panel.
1.1. Unscrew fastening screws -4- and remove plastic bracket -2- from roof frame 1 -3-.
1.2. Turn fixing clip -1- 90 degrees counterclockwise and remove to the rear from the plate of the plastic panel -2-.
Disconnecting wire harness plug connection for convertible top
1. Release electric plug connection -1- of wire harness -Arrow a- and disconnect.
Removing wire harness for convertible top
1. Remove wire harness at rear window.
1.1. Pull off both connectors -2- at the rear window -Arrows A-.
1.2. Pull out wire harness -1- from the rear window frame -Arrow B-.
1.3. Unscrew the two fastening screws -3- and remove the wire harness -1- from the fabric plate -4-.
2. Remove wire harness convertible top support.
2.1. Remove the three tie-wraps -2-.
2.2. Unscrew the two fastening screws -3-.
2.3. Unclip wire harness -1- from the two retaining clips -Arrows A-.
2.4. Remove foam part -4- -Arrow B-.
3. Remove potentiometer.
3.1. Remove wire harness -1- from the two clamps -2-.
3.2. Unscrew the two fastening screws -3- and remove the potentiometer -4-.
4. Remove wire harness from cable duct.
4.1. Remove wire harness -1- from cable duct -2-.
5. Removing wire harness at roof frame 1 and roof frame 3
5.1. Unscrew the two fastening screws -3- and remove plastic bracket -2- on roof frame 3 -5-.
5.2. Unclip wire harness -1- at roof frame 3 -5- and at roof frame 1 -4-.
Removing wire harness for roll-over protection system
1. Release and disconnect plug connections for rear side panel flap -2- at left and right.
2. Release and disconnect plug connection for hardtop mount -3-.
3. Release connector on convertible top control unit -6- and pull off.
4. Release and disconnect plug connection for roll-over protection system wire harness to rear wire harness -7-.
5. Release plug connection on motor for convertible-top compartment lid drive -8- and disconnect.
6. Unclip and remove wire harness for roll-over protection system -1- at the retaining clips -4-.
Installing wire harness for convertible top
1. Install wire harness at roof frame 1 and roof frame 3.
1.1. Lay wire harness -1 - and clip in at roof frame 1 -4- and at roof frame 3 -5-.
1.2. Position plastic bracket -2- on roof frame 3 -8- and screw down with the two fastening screws -3-. Tightening torque: 3 Nm (2 ftlb.)
2. Press wire harness into cable duct.
2.1. Press wire harness into cable duct.
3. Install potentiometer.
3.1. Insert potentiometer fork into the pins of the hydraulic housing.
3.2. Position potentiometer -4- on convertible top support and screw down with the two fastening screws -3-. Tightening torque: 3 Nm (2 ftlb.)
3.3. Lay wire harness -1 - and press into the two clamps -2-.
4. Install wire harness on convertible-top support.
4.1. Lay wire harness -1- and insert foam part -4- -Arrow A-.
4.2. Clip in wire harness -1- at the two retaining clips -Arrows B-.
4.3. Secure wire harness -1- with the two fastening screws -3-.
4.4. Fit three new tie-wraps -2-.
5. Install wire harness at rear window.
5.1. Push wire harness -1- through the fabric plate -4- -Arrow A- and secure with the two fastening screws -3-.
5.2. Lay wire harness -1 - and press into the rear window frame -Arrow B-.
5.3. Push on both connectors -2- at the rear window -Arrows C-.
Connecting wire harness plug connection for convertible top
1. Push together the electric plug connection -1- of the wire harness until it is felt to engage.
Installing plastic panel
1. Install plastic panel.
1.1. Insert fixing clip -1- onto plate of plastic panel from behind -2- and turn 90 degrees clockwise.
1.2. Position plastic panel -2- on roof frame 1 -3- and screw down with the fastening screws -4-. Tightening torque : 5 Nm (3.5 ftlb.)
Installing wire harness for roll-over protection system
1. Position wire harness for roll-over protection system -1- on the frame and clip in at the retaining clips -4-.
2. Press motor plug connection for convertible-top compartment lid drive -8- together until it is felt to engage.
3. Push together plug connection for roll-over protection system wire harness to rear wire harness -7- until it is felt to engage.
4. Connect connector to convertible top control unit -6- and lock it until it engages firmly.
5. Push in hardtop mount plug connection -3- until it engages securely.
6. Push in plug connections for rear side panel flap -2- at left and right until it is felt to engage.

Subsequent work for convertible top wiring harness
1. Install convertible-top covering.
Subsequent work for wiring harness for roll-over protection system
1. Install roll-over bar.
2. Carry out work instructions after disconnecting the battery.
