Diagnostic conditions:
- Switch on ignition (if necessary, switch off first)
- Internal function test completed

Possible fault causes

NOTE:
- The engine and transmission types displayed in the DME control module in the menu item Vehicle data do not have to match the actually programmed data record.
- The engine and transmission types displayed in the menu item Vehicle data can be re-written retroactively - however, this has only informational value.

- DME control module was programmed with the incorrect data record (engine and/or transmission type)
- Tiptronic control module was coded with incorrect or unknown engine version

Fault reaction:
- A warning message appears in the instrument cluster.
- The transmission is shifted into conditional limp home mode, i.e.:
- after fulfilling specific conditions (e.g. going below a speed threshold of 80 km/h (50 mph) in 5th gear) the transmission is shifted into mechanical limp home mode, i.e.:
- the pressure adjuster and solenoid valves are switched off.
- This opens the torque converter lockup clutch and shifts directly into 4th gear.
- The gear display shows 4th gear.
