Transmission Input Stall Speed

NOTE: The turbine speed is monitored when the vehicle is stationary and in operation.

Diagnostic conditions:
- ATF level OK
- ATF temperature > 60 degrees C (140 degrees F)
- Selector lever in position D
- Gear 2, 3, 4 or 5 engaged
- Gear engagement has been completed
- Engine speed > 1,408 rpm
- Faults "P0721 rpm sensor output drive" or "P0716 rpm sensor turbine" or vehicle speed is not detected

Possible fault causes:
- ATF level too low or too high
- Hydraulic control unit faulty
- Transmission faulty (e.g., clutch slips, etc.)

Fault reaction:
- A warning is displayed in the instrument cluster.
- The torque converter lockup clutch is opened and held open.
- The transmission is shifted into the electric limp home mode, gear
- The transmission is shifted into the electric limp home mode, gear 4.
