Preliminary work

1. Install hardtop. Refer to Removing and installing hardtop.

Adjusting the hardtop







1. Remove trim panels on the rear hardtop locks.







2. Loosen rear hardtop locks.
2.1. Loosen fastening screws -1- and -2- on the mounting plate by one turn of the thread. Unlock locking element (installation position).







3. Laterally align the hardtop.
3.1. Shift hardtop sideways along the rear locks until the gap -Dimension A- runs parallel to the windscreen frame. Adjustment dimension: 5.5 mm ± 1.0 mm










4. Set the lateral offset of the hardtop at the front.
4.1. The offset between the hardtop and the cowl panel at the front -Dimension B- is set by the convertible top pin housing and must not be changed. The convertible top pin housing is set with respect to the convertible top. Refer to Adjusting Cabriolet convertible top. Check dimension: 2 mm ± 1.0 mm







5. Connect mounting plate with the hardtop lock.
5.1. Connect mounting plate with the hardtop lock and the fastening screws -2-.

6. Set gap dimension between hardtop and convertible top compartment lid.
6.1. Adjust gap -Dimension D and C- by shifting the hardtop on both sides of the vehicle. Adjustment dimension: 5.5 mm ± 3.5 mm. Adjustment dimension: 5.5 mm ± 3.5 mm
6.2. Screw down mounting plate with the fastening screws -1- and tighten to the specified tightening torque. Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)










7. Check for smooth operation and freedom from leaks; adjust the channel strips on the hardtop for the side window if necessary.
7.1. Close side windows and check position of the side windows in relation to the hardtop. Refer to Removing and installing front door window.
7.2. Adjust retaining strip from hardtop to side window, if necessary.

Adjusting the channel strips:

Loosen fastening screws -3- and move retaining strip -2-.

Tighten fastening screws -3-. Press upper seal -4- into the profile of the retaining strip -5-.







7.3. If the windows touch the hardtop at their end position, increase the gap at the hardtop (towards the max. value). If the side windows leak, decrease the gap at the hardtop at the rear (towards the min. value).

8. Install trim panels for the rear hardtop locks.
8.1. Clip in the trim panel.
