Preliminary work for removing rear silencer
DANGER: Incorrect raising of the vehicle
- Damage to person or property caused by the car falling down
- Raise the vehicle at the prescribed jacking points.
1. Remove both rear wheels. Use the prescribed special tool socket wrench insert 300 to avoid damaging the rims.
2. Remove rear underbody cover.
Removing rear silencer
DANGER: Parts of the exhaust system become extremely hot.
- Danger of burns
- Permanent scarring of the skin
- Do not begin work until the exhaust system has cooled down completely.
- If it is imperative that you work on the hot exhaust system, ensure that you wear fire-resistant and heat-resistant protective gear.
NOTE:
- The main catalytic converters are integrated in the rear silencer.
- The rear silencers can be replaced individually by disconnecting the system.
1. Unscrew nuts (M8) -arrows- on the right flange (replace nuts).
Flange For Right Rear Silencer:
2. Unscrew nuts (M8) and screws (M8 x 30) -arrows- on left flange. (Replace nuts.)
Flange For Left Rear Silencer:
3. Get an assistant to hold the rear silencer.
4. Unscrew screws (M8 x 15) -arrows-.
Rear Silencer Holder:
5. Remove rear silencer with the help of an assistant.
Installing rear silencer
1. Replace flange seals.
2. Position rear silencer with the help of an assistant.
3. Screw in screws (M8 x 15) -arrows-.
Rear Silencer Holder:
4. Screw in nuts (M8) and screws (M8 x 30) -arrows- on left flange.
Flange For Left Rear Silencer:
5. Screw in nuts (M8) -arrows- on the right flange.
Flange For Right Rear Silencer:
Subsequent work for installing rear silencer
1. Install rear underbody cover.
2. Fit both rear wheels. Use the prescribed special tool socket wrench insert 300 to avoid damaging the rims.
