Preliminary work
1. Remove transmission.
Removing shift control lock device
1. Unscrew fastening screw between transmission bracket and transmission housing and remove transmission bracket.
2. Remove gearshift lock device from the transmission housing using a striker VW 771/1 and puller T40054.
3. Remove selector lock device from the transmission housing using a striker VW 771/1 and puller T40054.
4. Remove shift rod lock device for 5th/6th gear from the transmission housing using a striker VW 771/1 and puller T40054.
5. Remove shift rod lock device for 3rd/4th gear from the transmission housing using a striker VW 771/1 and puller T40054.
6. Remove shift rod lock device for 1st/2nd gear from the transmission housing using a striker VW 771 /1 and puller T40054.
7. Remove shift rod lock device for reverse gear from the transmission housing using a striker VW 771/1 and puller T40054.
Installing shift control lock device
1. Drive shift rod lock device for reverse gear into the transmission housing, as far as it will go, using a press-in tool P 9225/1.
2. Drive shift rod lock device for 1st/2nd gear into the transmission housing, as far as it will go, using a press-in tool P 9225/1.
3. Drive shift rod lock device for 3rd/4th gear into the transmission housing, as far as it will go, using a press-in tool P 9225/1.
4. Drive shift rod lock device for 5th/6th gear into the transmission housing, as far as it will go, using a press-in tool P 9225/1.
5. Drive selector lock device into the transmission housing, as far as it will go, using a press-in tool P 9225/1.
6. Drive gearshift lock device into the transmission housing, as far as it will go, using a press-in tool P 9225/1.
7. Screw in fastening screw between transmission bracket and transmission housing.
Subsequent work
1. Install transmission.
