Removing hydro-tappets
Note: Observe the most important working regulations and warning notes.
Note:
^ The roller-type cam followers are joined to the hydro-tappets (support elements) with a safety clip.
^ The safety clip must be handled carefully!
^ If the hydro-tappets are to be reused, they must be marked according to installation position with a water-resistant felt-tip pen and stored in such a way that they cannot be mixed up!
^ If the hydro-tappets are to be reused, they must be reinstalled in the same position!
^ Roller-type cam followers must be set aside in such a way that they cannot be mixed up.
1. Take the roller-type cam followers with the support elements out of the cylinder head. The roller-type cam followers must be completely removed carefully.
2. Check component arrangement. Check that the components are complete and intact. Replace any faulty or damaged components. The safety clip is hooked into the front of the roller-type cam follower -1- and support lever -2-. Observe the position of the valve pressure face with respect to the roller-type cam follower during removal -3-.
3. Lay roller-type cam followers, support elements and safety clips aside in such a way that they cannot be mixed up. Mark the installation position according to cylinder and valve.
Installing hydro-tappets
Note: Observe the most important working regulations and warning notes.
Note: When installing the camshafts, make sure the roller-type cam followers do not slip off the valve pressure face.
1. Assemble support element, roller-type cam followers and safety clips or check that they are assembled correctly. Make sure the support elements and roller-type cam followers are joined correctly by the safety clips -1 and 2-.
2. Oil the components. Install support element/roller-type cam follower. Make sure that the safety clip does not slip out of place during installation. The pressure face of the roller-type cam follower -3- must rest on the valve pressure face. This can slip out of place when the camshaft is installed later.
