Tire Pressure Monitoring System Troubleshooting Tips

Cayenne/Cayenne S/Cayenne Turbo (S)

Model Year:
As of 2003 up to 2006

Equipment:
Tire Pressure Monitoring system (I-no. 7K3, 7K4)

Concerns:
Vehicles with Tire Pressure Monitoring (referred to hereafter as 1PM) of the 1st TPM generation (= high-frequency data transmission).

Situation:
Checks on vehicles in relation to the complains...

Instrument cluster displays

^ Lines instead of the TPM pressure display (although nothing was changed on the set of wheels),

^ the message "Wheel change? Check setting" (although nothing was changed on the set of wheels),

^ the message "No monitoring, system is learning", although nothing was selected under "Tire type" in the 1PM menu and nothing was changed on the set of wheels, have resulted in a situation in which the possible causes

^ wheel signal reception is insufficient or is not unique,

^ inadequate antenna signal transmission quality due to wire harness routing,

^ insufficient ground point (auxiliary water heating), may be responsible for this.

Possible entry in the TPM control unit fault memory may be

^ No fault entry for the messages or (missing) displays mentioned above,

^ Fault entry "1325 (TPM system fault)" as a result of one of the messages mentioned above.

Note
The procedure described below applies only in relation to the complaints mentioned above or for vehicles for which no remedial measures were available up to now. If other fault codes or complaints are reported, these must be corrected using the guided PIWIS fault finding steps or the instructions in the Workshop Manual.

Overview of procedure:

^ System test (antenna and wheel electronics) using PIWIS Tester and two required test drives (Step --> 1 and --> 2). If faults are detected here and remedial action is possible, no further action is needed.

^ Carry out remedial action on vehicle (starting from Step ~ 3).
