Removing And Installing Cutoff Relay
Removing cutoff relay
ATTENTION:
Danger of injury and material damage due to incorrect handling of cut-off relay.
- Remove ignition key.
- Disconnect battery.
- Route or isolate ground strap so that all contact with a ground carrier (e.g. body, seat frame) is avoided.
- After the battery is disconnected, always wait one minute before disconnecting the cut-off relay connector.
1. Move front left seat back and up as far as possible. Move backrest fully forward.
2. Detach front seat trim -arrow A- towards the front.

Checking cutoff relay operation
1. Connect and switch on the Porsche System Tester.
2. Switch on ignition.
3. Establish communication with the airbag control unit.
4. Read out fault memory: No fault stored.
WARNING:
Danger of personal injury if the drive link test is carried out when the vehicle is in motion! The following conditions must be observed when carrying out the drive link test:
- Never carry out the drive link test when the vehicle is in motion.
- The drive link test must always be carried out on a stationary vehicle in a workshop with sufficient commercially available tools. The driver's seat must then be partially removed in order to deactivate the cut-off relay again. Only then can the engine be restarted.
5. Follow the menu Drive links (Drive link test).
NOTE:
- When you perform the drive link test:
- The cut-off relay is activated. The cut-off relay must be activated again.
- The hazard warning lights are activated.
- The central locking system is opened.
- Triggering of the airbag units is simulated.
6. To activate the cut-off relay: Press on the colored area of cut-off relay (located in power distributor).
7. Ignition off. Disconnect and re-connect battery
8. Read out fault memory for all control units and erase if necessary.
Carry out work instruction after disconnecting the battery.
