Work Procedure
Work Procedure:1. Overview of block diagrams
1.1 Block diagram up to model year 2006 => Figure 4 -F1-.
1.2 Block diagram as of model year 2008 => Figure 3 -F 2-.
2. Preparatory work
WARNING:
Risk of short circuit and fire due to work on vehicle electrical system.
> When working on the electrical system, the battery must always be disconnected and covered.
> Always route the electrical leads without tension and so that no chafing occurs. Secure to existing harnesses/components with tie-wraps/electrical tape.
2.1 Disconnect the battery.
2.2 Remove roof console.
3. Connect electric line 0.35sq to the 16-pin connector for the roof assembly (X1).
3.1 Remove tie-wrap from 16-pin connector for the roof assembly (X1).
3.2 Use a small flat screwdriver to open the lock => Figure 5 -arrow- and separate connector housing from the plug carrier.
3.3 Remove wrapping tape from wire harness.
3.4 Only for vehicles with cutting-crimp plug carriers:
3.4.1 Remove cutting crimp => Figure 6-A- from chamber 3.
3.4.2 Crimp cutting crimp => Figure 6-A- at one end of the additional electric line 0.35sq.
3.4.3 Connect the other end of the additional electric line 0.35sq as a splice to the electric line from chamber 2 (30G).
Note:
Ensure socket contact is seated securely.
3.4.4 Insert cutting crimp into chamber 3 of the plug carrier.
3.5 Only for vehicles with micro-quad lock connectors up to model year 06:
3.5.1 Press socket contact of line RD/GN 0.35sq out of chamber 2 (30G) => Figure 7-A-.
3.5.2 Crimp micro-quad lock (999.652.901.22) => Figure 8-A- at one end of the additional electric line 0.35sq.
3.5.3 Connect the other end of the additional electric line 0.35sq as a splice => Figures -B- to the electric line RD/GN 0.35sq from chamber 2 (30G).
Note:
Ensure socket contact is seated securely.
3.5.4 Insert socket contact of line RD/GN 0.35sq into chamber 2 (30G) and additional micro-quad lock into chamber 3.
3.6 Only for vehicles with micro-quad lock connectors as of model year 08:
3.6.1 Press socket contact of line RD/GN 0.35sq out of chamber 4 (30G I) => Figure 10 -A-.
3.6.2 Crimp micro-quad lock (999.652.901.22) => Figure 11 -A- at one end of the additional electric line 0.35sq.
ATTENTION:
Do not connect additional electric line as a splice to terminal 30G II, chamber 2!
^ Roof console Wake-up function does not work!
=> Connect garage door opener to terminal 30G I, chamber 4.
3.6 3 Connect the other end of the additional electric line 0.35sq as a splice => Figure 11 -B- to the electric line RD/GN 0.35sq from chamber 4 (30G I).
Note:
Ensure socket contact is seated securely.
3.6.4 Insert socket contact of line RD/GN 0.35sq into chamber 4 (30G I) and additional micro-quad lock into chamber 3.
3.7 Push connector housing onto the plug carrier until the lock engages.
3.8 Fasten tie-wrap.
3.9 Wind wrapping tape around wire harness.
4. Install caps with symbols (switches) in roof console.
4.1 Unclip cover => Figure 13 -A- from headliner.
4.2 Clip trim for switches => Figure 14 -C- into roof console.
4.3 Clip switches => Figure 15 -A- into trim. The guide => Figure 15 -arrow- must be inserted into the groove => Figure 15 -B- on the trim for switches.
5. Install electric components in roof console.
5.1 Install PCB.
5.1.1 Connect connector (X6) on electric wire harness (retrofit kit) => Figure 16 -A- and 3-pin connector (X4) => Figure 16 -B- to the PCB.
5.1.2 Position PCB on roof assembly and secure with four oval-head screws (N 909 151 01) => Figure 17 -A-.
5.2 Install control unit for garage door opener.
5.2.1 Position control unit on the PCB and screw in two fastening screws => Figure 18 -A-.
5.2.2 Connect connector (X7) on electric wire harness (retrofit kit) to the control unit => Figure 18 -B- until it engages securely.
5.3 Route electric wire harness (retrofit kit) => Figure 19 -A- under original wire harness => Figure 19 -A- -arrows-.
6. Concluding work
