The satellite radio supports a wide range of stations, which can be received in digital quality. "XM Satellite Radio' offers around 100 stations (music, sport, news and entertainment), which are broadcast without any commercial breaks.

For further information, please refer to the PCM operating instructions. The customer is liable to pay material and installation costs as well as additional costs, details of which are available from the provider.

WARNING:

ATTENTION:
Damage to optical waveguide
>Due to incorrect installation or disregarding the requirements for handling the optical waveguide.
>Do not use tools to connect or disconnect plug connections.
>Maximum permissible tension load: do not exceed 60 N.
>Do not go below minimum bending radius of 25mm after and during installation in the vehicle.
>Do not exceed maximum number of 10 twists per yard.
>Observe all instructions for working with optical waveguides,
>Workshop Manual '97 General information on optical waveguides - MOST bus'.

ATTENTION:

Danger of injury and physical damage if airbag units are not handled correctly.

Work Procedure:

1. Preparatory work.

1.1 Open the hood.

1.2 Connect battery charger. > Workshop Manual '90 Battery trickle charge'

1.3 Remove top section of rear spoiler. > Workshop Manual '665819 Removing and installing rear spoiler - section on "Removing"'

1.4 Remove side trim panel for luggage compartment at the right. > Workshop Manual '700319 Removing and installing rear luggage compartment side-panel lining - section on "Removing"'

1.5 Remove headliner. >Workshop Manual '708419 Removing and installing headliner - section on "Removing"'

1.6 Unscrew fastening screw from towbar control unit and set it aside. > Workshop Manual '669619 Removing and installing towbar control unit - section on "Removing"'

1.7 Only for vehicles with amplifier and/or CD changer:
Remove CD changer/amplifier support. > Workshop Manual '916019 Removing and installing CD changer - section on "Removing"'




1.8 Unscrew fastening screw, Figure 3, item A and unclip rear control unit support, Figure 3, item B from side panel (Arrows).




2. Remove rear-window wire harness.

2.1 Rear spoiler area:

2.1.1 Remove antenna amplifier on right and left.

2.1.2 Loosen adhesive tape on the right, Figure 4, item B and remove tie-wrap, Figure 4, item C for securing rear-window wire harness, Figure 4, item A.




2.1.3 Only for vehicles with telephone antenna:

Release the lock, Figure 5, item A and pull off connector, Figure 5, item B for telephone antenna.




2.1.4 Remove GPS antenna and support, Figure 6, item B. Unscrew fastening screws, Figure 6, item A. Release GPS antenna connector and pull connector off GPS antenna, Figure 6 (Inset).




2.1.5 Pull water hose, Figure 7, item A off spray nozzle and seal off from rear window wire harness to be installed using the plug.




2.1.6 Remove rubber grommet, Figure 8, item A from rear spoiler and loosen rear window wire harness at the Velcro strip segments, Figure 8, item B.




2.2 Passenger compartment area:

2.2.1 Release wiring duct, Figure 9, item A and remove from hinge, Figure 9, item B.

2.2.2 Release cover, Figure 9, item C, remove from wiring duct, Figure 9, item D, and remove wiring duct from wire harness.




2.2.3 Remove tie-wrap, Figure 10, item A, disconnect water hose, Figure 10, item B at the plug connection and seal off from rear window wire harness to be installed using the plug.

2.2.4 Unclip water hose from the roof.




2.2.5 Release brackets and remove violet, yellow and blue plug connections, Figure 11, item A from connection point.

NOTE: The number of plug connections can vary, depending on the vehicle equipment.

2.2.6 Release and disconnect plug connections.

2.2.7 Pull off pink connector, Figure 11, item B.




2.2.8 Release support for socket, Figure 12, item A and remove out of opening in the roof.




2.2.9 Release support, Figure 13, item A at the sides, open it up and remove rear window wire harness, Figure 13, item B and ground cable.




2.2.10 Press out the rubber grommet, Figure 14, item A and pull out rear window wire harness, Figure 14, item B in direction of arrow between hinge cover and hinge.

3. Install new rear-window wire harness.

3.1 Passenger compartment area:




3.1.1 Guide rear window wire harness, Figure 15, item B into the passenger compartment between the hinge cover and hinge. The rubber grommet, Figure 15, item A must seal the opening completely.

NOTE: When installing the wire harness, make sure the insulation is not damaged.




3.1.2 Place ground cable and rear window wire harness, Figure 16, item B into support, Figure 16, item A. Close the support until the locking tab locks into place.




3.1.3 Press support for socket into the opening in the roof, Figure 17, item B until the locking tabs, Figure 17, item A are felt to engage.




3.1.4 Connect pink connector, Figure 18, item B.

NOTE: The number of plug connections can vary, depending on the vehicle equipment.

3.1.5 Connect the violet, yellow and blue plug connections, Figure 18, item A and clip them into the connection point.

3.1.6 Pull plug off the water hose and connect antenna leads at the plug connection. Secure water hose and antenna leads at the roof using a tie-wrap close to the plug connection, Figure 18, item C.

3.1.7 Clip water hose, Figure 18, item D to the roof.




3.1.8 Lay wire harness in the wiring duct and push on cover, Figure 19, item A until the locking tabs, Figure 19, item B click into place.

3.1.9 Push wiring duct onto hinge, Figure 19, item C until the locking tabs are felt to engage.

3.2 Rear spoiler area:




3.2.1 Insert rubber grommet, Figure 20, item A into rear spoiler.

3.2.2 Position rear window wire harness in rear spoiler and press onto Velcro strip segments to secure it, Figure 20, item B.

4. Install GPS/SDARS antenna.

NOTE: The bars in the lower section of the rear spoiler for the GPS/SDARS antenna are now obsolete in production. The change will be introduced gradually.




4.1 Carefully remove plastic bars, Figure 21, item A in the installation area of the GPS/SDARS antenna using pliers.




4.2 Connect antenna connector, Figure 22, item A to the GPS/SDARS antenna in accordance with its coding.

4.3 Position GPS/SDARS antenna and secure with fastening screws, Figure 22, item B.


5. Complete the rear spoiler.




5.1 Only for vehicles with telephone antenna:

Connect telephone antenna connector to the line, Figure 23, item A until the locking tabs of the lock, Figure 23, item B are felt to engage.

5.2 Install antenna amplifier at the left and right. > Workshop Manual '918419 Removing and installing antenna amplifier - section on "Installing"'

5.3 Route water hose, Figure 7, item A and attach to spray nozzle.

NOTE: The tie-wraps for securing the rear window wire harness in the lower section of the rear spoiler are no longer used.

5.4 Secure rear window wire harness with adhesive tape, Figure 4, item B.

5.5 Install top section of rear spoiler. > Workshop Manual '665819 Removing and installing rear spoiler-section on "Installing"'

6. Route antenna lead (955.647.214.00) in passenger compartment.




6.1 Clip plug carrier, Figure 24, A into connection point.

NOTE: The antenna lead must be routed behind the head airbag unit.

6.2 Route antenna lead, Figure 24, item B as follows:

Right connection point - right B-pillar - behind head airbag unit, Figure 24, item C - to wheel housing




6.3 Continue laying the antenna lead as follows:

Wheel-housing wiring duct - under rear-seat bracket - installation position of receiver

6.4 Loop antenna lead and lay it under the carpeted floor.

7. Route electric wire harness

955.044.900.65 (with CD changer installed) or electric wire harness 955.044.900.66 (without CD changer).




7.1 Route wire harness, Figure 26, item A as follows:

Installation position of CD changer, Figure 26 (Inset) - wheel-housing wiring duct - under rear-seat bracket - installation position of receiver

7.2 Connect optical waveguide connector, Figure 26, item C and power supply plug, Figure 26, item B (retrofit kit) to the connectors for the CD changer installation.

8. Install receiver.

8.1 Remove perforated carpeted floor at the installation position for the blind rivet nuts.




8.2 Insert two blind rivet nuts, Figure 27, item A into the rear-seat bracket using a manual rivet pliers.




8.3 Slide receiver into the receiver support, Figure 28, Arrow A. When doing so, make sure that the four locking tabs fit into the slots on the receiver, Figure 28, Arrows. Push receiver into support until the lock engages, Figure 28, Arrows B.




8.4 Connect the connectors for the antenna leads, Figure 29, item A, the power supply connector, Figure 29, item B and the connector for the optical waveguide, Figure 29, item C to the receiver until they engage securely.




8.5 Position receiver support and secure with screws (N 907371 01), Figure 30, item A. Tightening torque 6 (4.5 ftlb.) Mm

9. Concluding work.




9.1 Clip rear control unit support, Figure 30, item B into side panel and tighten fastening screw, Figure 30, item A.

9.2 Position towbar control unit and tighten fastening screw. > Workshop Manual '669619 Removing and installing towbar control unit - section on "Installing"'

9.3 Only for vehicles with amplifier and/or CD changer:

Install CD changer/amplifier support. > Workshop Manual '916019 Removing and installing CD changer - section on "Removing"'

9.4 Install side trim panel for rear luggage compartment at the right. > Workshop Manual '700319 Removing and installing rear luggage compartment side-panel lining - section on "Installing"'

9.5 Install headliner. > Workshop Manual '708419 Removing and installing headliner - section on "Installing"'
9.6 Code satellite radio receiver in PCM 2.1.

9.6.1 Connect PIWIS Tester and switch on ignition.

9.6.2 Select vehicle and PSM2.1 control unit.

9.6.3 In the PCM2.1 MMI menu, switch to MOST actual installed components list and note the position of the satellite radio.

9.6.4 In the PCM2.1 MMI menu, switch to MOST required installed components list. The same satellite radio position must also be displayed here - if this is not the case, select the position and code it with F8.

NOTE: For further information and instructions on selecting the individual menu items - see Technical Manual.

9.6.5 Read out fault memory and erase it if necessary.

9.6.6 Switch ignition off and disconnect PIWIS Tester.

9.7 Carry out a function test (see "Satellite radio reception" chapter in Owner's Manual).

9.8 Disconnect battery charger > Workshop Manual '90 Battery trickle charge - section on "Information"' and close the hood.

Activation:
Canadian XM Activation Procedures For Porsche Cayenne Vehicles w/Dealer Installed XM Radio

NOTE: This process should be carried out by Service/Sales at the Dealership

Porsche will be offering XM Satellite Radio as a dealer installed option for the Cayenne beginning in September of 2006. This process explains how activation should be handled on these radios to ensure all Porsche customers who request the dealer installed option will still receive their waived activation and 3 months of free service as they would had they purchased a Cayenne with XM installed at the factory.

Activation Instructions
- Power on the XM Radio in the Porsche Cayenne
- Turn the Radio to XM Satellite Mode
- Obtain the 8-digit XM Radio ID by tuning to channel 0
- Leave the radio on, and tune to XM Channel 1, the Preview Channel
- Make sure radio has a satellite signal (You can hear Channel 1)
- Call XM Listener Care

- Provide XM Listener Care with information including:
- Radio ID (from XM Channel 0)
- Promo Code: porsche-1
- Customer information (Name, Address, Phone)
- Customer credit card information (Type, Card #, Name as appears on card, expiration date)


- Customers who do not supply credit card information at the time of activation will not receive XM Satellite Radio service.

- Customers supplying credit card information at time of activation and who do not purchase an annual subscription package will automatically be billed every three months for CDN $44.97 + applicable taxes (CDN $14.99/month). This billing will commence after the initial three months of no charge service. Customers can call XM Listener Care to cancel at any time,

- Follow XM Listener Care activation instructions
- Give the XM Radio up to 30 minutes (usually 5-15) to begin receiving all of the XM Channels
- Once complete, Cayenne will be ready for customer to pick up and enjoy their free XM service
