Information:
This is to inform you of a voluntary Workshop Campaign on a certain 2006 model year Cayenne (\16), Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo vehicles. There is the possibility the vehicle may have a damaged printed circuit board that can result in a defect in the pedal encoder on the accelerator pedal module. To remedy the situation the accelerator pedal module needs to be replaced.
Affected Vehicles:
A total of 45 U.S. and Canadian vehicles fall within the scope of this Workshop Campaign.
Very Important!
Use the VIN range below as a general guideline. The VIN can be checked in the Porsche e-DCS/WWS for confirmation of an open recall campaign. Refer to Attachment "A" to determine if a particular vehicle is eligible for this recall campaign (or Workshop Campaign). Also, the VIN can be checked via the VRU (Voice Response System) for any open listing.
Not every vehicle in the below listed range may be affected. Use the ranges below as a general guideline. Alternatively, the VIN can be checked in the Porsche e-DCS/WWS for confirmation of an open service action.
The affected Vehicle Identification Numbers are contained in the VIN Ranges shown.

Work Procedure:
1 Removing accelerator pedal module.
1.1 Remove cover under the dashboard in the driver's footwell, --> Workshop Manual "702219 Removing and installing cover under dashboard".
1.2 Remove angle for the lower dashboard cover on the accelerator pedal module.
To do this, slide the angle (--> Figure 7-Item A-) out of the guide on the accelerator pedal module.
1.3 Unlock electric plug connection (--> Figure 7-Item B-) and pull the plug off the accelerator pedal module.
1.4 Remove accelerator pedal module by unscrewing the three fastening screws (--> Figure 1-Item C-).
1.5 Take accelerator pedal module out of the driver's footwell and pull cap (--> Figure 1-Item D-) off the accelerator pedal in the direction of the arrow.
2 Install a new accelerator pedal module.
2.1 Slide cap (--> Figure 7-Item 0-) onto the accelerator pedal of the new accelerator pedal module.
2.2 Use the three fastening screws (--> Figure 7-Item C-) to fit the new accelerator pedal module on the pedal bracket (--> Figure 1-Item E-).
Tightening torque 10 (7.5 ftlb.) Nm.
2.3 Plug in electric plug connection (--> Figure 1-Item B-).
2.4 Slide angle for the lower dashboard cover (--> Figure 7-Item A-) as far as it will go into the guide on the new accelerator pedal module.
3 Read out DME fault memory and perform Kick down adaptation.
3.1 Connect a battery charger to the connection terminals for jump-lead starting in the engine compartment.
3.2 Switch on ignition.
3.3 Connect PIWIS Tester to the vehicle and switch it on.
3.4 In the start display of the PIWIS Tester, call up the "Diagnostics" menu and select the vehicle type "Cayenne".
3.5 Select the control unit "DME" and press [F12] to switch to DME function selection.
3.6 Read out and erase the DME fault memory.
3.7 Carry out Kick down adaptation.
3.7.1 Select "System adaptation" in the Cayenne DME function selection and confirm by pressing [F12].
3.7.2 Select "Kick down" function and confirm with [F12].
3.7.3 Carry out Kick down adaptation in accordance with instructions on the PIWIS Tester:
- Engine off
- Press accelerator pedal module down fully
Keep the accelerator pedal module pressed in this position until the message "Adaptation OK" appears in the "System adaptation result" line on the PIWIS Tester display.
--> This concludes the Kick down adaptation.
3.8 As soon as the Kick down adaptation has been performed, press [F11] to return to the DME function selection and check the actual values for the accelerator pedal module.
3.8.1 Select the "Actual values" function in the DME function selection and confirm by pressing [F12].
3.8.2 In the DME Actual values selection, press [F5] (Filters) and select the "All actual values" filter. Confirm your selection by pressing [F12].
3.8.3 Choose the following actual values from the list:
- Load
- Kick down
- Pedal value
3.8.4 Confirm your selection by pressing [F12] to display the actual values.
If the accelerator pedal module is not pressed, the following actual values will be displayed:
- Load: Idle speed
- Kick down: Not actuated
- Pedal value: 0%
3.8.5 Press accelerator pedal module down fully.
The following actual values are displayed:
- Load: Full load
- Kick down: Actuated
- Pedal value: 100%
3.9 Return to the PIWIS Tester Start menu.
3.10 Disconnect the PIWIS Tester from the vehicle and shut it down, if necessary.
3.11 Switch off the ignition.
3.12 Install cover under the dashboard, --> Workshop Manual "702219 Removing and installing cover under dashboard".
3.13 Disconnect battery charger.
4 Enter the Workshop Campaign in the Warranty and Maintenance booklet.
