W716 - Re-Programming Auxiliary Heating Control Unit - Fuel Delivery Volume (Workshop Campaign)

Fuel delivery volume for auxiliary heating.

Information:

This is to inform you of a voluntary Workshop Campaign on certain 2006 model year Cayenne, Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo vehicles. There is the possibility that if the auxiliary heating system has not been used for a long time, the fuel pump may not deliver sufficient fuel to the auxiliary heater when the auxiliary heater is switched on. To remedy the situation: the control unit for auxiliary heating must be re-programmed using the PIWIS Tester.

Affected Vehicles

A total of 72 U.S. and Canadian vehicles fall within the scope of this Workshop Campaign.





Very Important!
Use the VIN range shown as a general guideline. The VIN can be checked in the WWS for confirmation of an open workshop campaign (Also see PIWIS VIN Information). Refer to Attachment "A" to determine if a particular vehicle is eligible for this workshop campaign. Also, the VIN can be checked via the VRU (Voice Response System) for any open listing. The affected Vehicle Identification Numbers are contained in the VIN Ranges shown above.

Attachment "A" VIN List

ATTENTION
Auxiliary heating control unit programming must not be interrupted.

^ If programming is interrupted due to a voltage drop, malfunctions in the auxiliary heating control unit or damage to the auxiliary heating control unit cannot be ruled out.

- Connect the vehicle electrical system battery to a suitable battery charger with a charging current of at least 40 A.
