- Before starting the diagnosis a suitable charging device must be connected to maintain battery capacity.
- Plug contacts are optimally designed to suit the plug system. Operations on pins can cause contact problems. Always use suitable measurement tools for adapter plugs and test cables.

NOTE:
- A test cable can be inserted into the trailer socket to test the trailer functions or to locate errors. The plug has 13 pins; adapters are required for 7-pin sockets. Because of the build-up of heat, ensure that a thermal circuit breaker is used in the test cable.
- A trailer, which is known to be OK, can also be connected.
