Adjusting Rear Lid

General information on adjustment procedure
- When making adjustments after removing the rear lid, begin with the actions described under Adjusting rear lid. Then perform the actions under Adjusting the side guide pins and buffers and Adjusting the rear window.
- When adjusting after removing the rear window, begin with the actions under Adjusting rear screen.

INFORMATION: The adjustment of the rear window must be checked with the rear wing attached, because this is mounted on the rear window and forms the upper edge for the outer side section and roof.

1. Check adjustment.
1.1. Check gap dimensions of rear lid. Refer to Adjusting rear lid.

2. Remove the rear spoiler. Refer to Removing and installing rear spoiler.
3. Adjust the rear window.
3.1. Loosen fastening nuts -1-.







3.2. Move the rear window -2- at the rear lid hinge -3- to adjust the contours with respect to the lid and the outer side section. Refer to Adjusting rear lid.
3.3. Tighten fastening nuts -1-.
Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ftlb.)±2 Nm (±1.5 ftlb.)

4. Adjust the catch bar mounting.
4.1. Unclip the catch bar cover -1- and take it off -arrow-.







4.2. Loosen fastening nuts -1- on the catch bar mounting -2-.







4.3. Move the catch bar mounting -2- vertically -arrow- to adjust the contour with respect to the lid and the outer side section. Refer to Adjusting rear lid.
4.4. Tighten fastening nuts -1-.
Tightening torque: 8 Nm (6.0 ftlb.)±1.2 Nm (±0.5 ftlb.)

5. Adjust the catch bar.
5.1. Loosen lock nut -1-.







5.2. Set the adjustment depth of the rear window by turning the catch bar -2- in the thread -arrow-. Refer to Adjusting rear lid.
5.3. Tighten the lock nut -1-.
Tightening torque: 6 Nm (4.5 ftlb.)±0.6 Nm (±0.5 ftlb.)

5.4. Clip in cover on catch bar -1- (-arrow-).







6. Adjust the rear window stop.

INFORMATION: When closed, the rear window must lie slightly tensioned on the rear window stops. Adjust the stops if necessary.

6.1.
6.2. Unscrew the rear window stop -1-.







6.3. Insert an M6 washer -2- with a max. thickness of 1.5 mm and screw on the rear window stop -1-.
6.4. Fit grommet for the rear window stop.

7. Install rear spoiler. Refer to Removing and installing rear spoiler.

INFORMATION: All body gap dimensions and adjustments for the rear lid must be given a final check.
If necessary, fine tuning must be performed for the catch bars of the body or the rear window.

8. Check the body gap dimensions and adjustments.
9. Install trim panel for window frame. Refer to Removing and installing trim panel for rear lid.
