Removing And Installing Wiring Harness For Tailgate
Technical values
Preliminary work
1. Remove side panel from rear lid.
2. Remove lining for rear lid.
3. Removing headliner.
4. Remove number plate lights.
5. Remove rear lid release.
6. Remove the rear spoiler.
Removing wiring harness for tailgate
Removing wiring harness, left side of tailgate to lid hinge
1. Pull off connector on rear window wiper -Arrow A-.
2. Release connector -Arrows B- and remove from lock lower part on rear window -Arrow C-.
3. Turn plug connection through approx. 90 degrees -Arrow D- and remove from clip -Arrow E-.
4. Release connector -Arrow F- and disconnect plug connection of contact switch for rear window -Arrow G-.
5. Unscrew fastening nut -Arrow 1- and remove ground strap together with torsion protection -a-.
6. Unclip wiring harness -arrows-.
7. Remove rubber sleeve on window frame -Arrow A-.
8. Unclip wiring harness on window frame -Arrows B- and remove it -Arrows C-.
9. Remove wiring duct from hinge -Arrow A-.
10. Open wiring duct -Arrows B-, take off cover -Arrow C- and remove wiring duct from wiring harness.
Removing wiring harness, left side of vehicle to lid hinge
INFORMATION:
- The styrofoam element is glued in.
- Carefully release styrofoam element.
- Replace damaged styrofoam elements.
1. Loosen, compress and remove styrofoam element -Arrow A-.
2. Pull off pink connector -Arrow B-.
3. Unscrew fastening nut -Arrow 1- and remove ground strap together with torsion protection -a- from ground pin.
4. Release support for socket -Arrows A- and remove from opening -Arrow B-.
5. Release pink socket -Arrows A- and press it out -Arrow B-.
6. Release support -Arrow C-, open it -Arrow D- and remove ground strap -Arrow E-.
7. Press out rubber sleeve -Arrow A- and remove line to pneumatic spring housing.
8. Pull wiring harness inside -Arrows B-. As space is limited, push the connectors individually past the rear lid hinge.
Removing wiring harness, right side of tailgate to lid hinge
1. Release connector on rear lid lock -Arrows A- and remove it -Arrow B-.
2. Release connector on contact switch -Arrows C- and remove it -Arrow D-.
3. Unclip wiring harness -Arrows A-.
4. Press out clips inwards -Arrows B-.
5. Remove rubber sleeve on window frame -Arrow A-.
6. Unclip wiring harness on window frame -Arrows B- and remove it.
7. Remove wiring duct from hinge -Arrow A-.
8. Open wiring duct -Arrows B-, remove cover -Arrow C- and take out wiring harness.
Removing wiring harness, right side of vehicle to lid hinge
INFORMATION:
- The styrofoam element is glued in.
- Carefully release styrofoam element.
- Replace damaged styrofoam elements.
1. Loosen, compress and remove styrofoam element -arrow-.
2. Pull off blue connector -Arrow A-.
3. Release support for socket -Arrows B- and remove it -Arrow C-.
4. Release blue socket -Arrows A- and pull it out -Arrow B-.
5. Press out the front rubber sleeve -Arrow A- and remove the line -Arrow B-.
Removing wire harness for rear window, left
1. Unscrew fastening nut -arrow 1- and remove ground strap together with torsion protection -a- from ground pin.
2. Release support for socket -arrows A- and remove from opening -arrow B-.
3. Release -arrows A- and press out the pink socket -arrow B-.
4. Release support -arrow C-, open it -arrow D- and remove ground strap -arrow E-.
5. Release bracket -arrows A- and remove both plug connections -arrows B-.
6. Release plug connections -arrow C- and disconnect -arrows D-.
7. Press out rubber sleeve -arrow A- and remove wire harness in a downward direction through pneumatic spring housing -arrow B-.
8. Release wiring duct -arrow A- and remove it from hinge -arrow B-.
9. Release cover -arrows C-, take it off the wiring duct -arrow D- and remove wiring duct from wire harness.
10. Undo fastening screws -arrows 3- and remove GPS sensor -arrow A-.
11. Release connector -arrow B- and disconnect it from the GPS sensor -arrow C-.
12. Pull off connector on right antenna amplifier -arrow A-.
13. Loosen the adhesive tape -arrows B-, then release both antenna plugs -arrows C- and pull them off.
INFORMATION: Only for vehicles with telephone antenna.
14. Remove left antenna amplifier.
15. Release the lock -arrows A- and pull off the telephone antenna plug -arrow B-.
16. Remove rubber sleeve from rear spoiler -arrow A-.
17. Pull off line from Velcro strip segments -arrow B- and remove.
18. Remove complete wire harness on hinge to the rear -arrow-.
Removing wire harness for rear window, right
1. Unscrew fastening nut -arrow 1- and remove ground strap together with twist lock -a-.
2. Pull off green connector -arrow-.
3. Release support for socket -arrows A- and remove it -arrow B-.
4. Release support for socket -arrow C-, open it -arrow D- and remove ground strap -arrow E-.
5. Release green socket -arrows A- and press it out of the support -arrow B-.
6. Disconnect water line at plug connection -arrows C-.
7. Release bracket -arrows A- and remove both lines -arrows B-.
8. Release plug connections -arrow C- and disconnect -arrows D-.
9. Release wiring duct -arrow A- and remove it from hinge -arrow B-.
10. Release cover -arrows C-, take it off -arrow D- and remove wiring duct from wire harness.
11. Press out the rubber sleeve. -arrow A-
12. Pull out wire harness on hinge to the rear -arrows B-.
13. Pull off water line from spray nozzle -arrow A-.
14. Release connector on brake light -arrow B- and pull it off -arrow C-.
15. Release plug connections to rear window heater -arrow A- and disconnect -arrows B-.
16. Pull off Styrofoam element from plug connection to rear window antenna -arrow C-.
17. Release plug connection to rear window antenna -arrow D- and disconnect -arrows E-.
18. Undo fastening screws -arrow 2- and remove ground strap.
19. Loosen adhesive tape -arrow A-, release black connector on right antenna amplifier -arrow B- and pull it off -arrow C-.
20. Pull off connector on red connection of right antenna amplifier -arrow D-.
21. Remove rubber sleeve from rear spoiler -arrow A- and loosen wire harness at Velcro strip segments -arrows B-.
22. Remove wiring harness.
