Removing And Installing Lower Part Of Rear Lock

Technical values







Preliminary work

1. Remove cover for lock support. Refer to Removing and installing cover for lock support.

Removing lower part of rear lock

Removing lower part of rear lock (vehicles without closing aid)







1. Mark installation position of lower part of rear lock.
2. Unscrew fastening screws -2- and remove lower part of rear lock -1-.







Removing lower part of rear lock (vehicles with closing aid)







1. Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
2. Lift up plastic foam -1- and remove it -arrow-.







3. Mark installation position of lower part of rear lock.
4. Unscrew fastening screws -1- on lower part of rear lock -2- (-arrow-).







5. Release connector -1- on lower part of rear lock -2- (-arrows A-) and pull it off -arrow B-.







Installing lower part of rear lock

Installing lower part of rear lock (vehicles without closing aid)







1. Install lower part of rear lock.







1.1. Position lower part of rear lock -1- in line with the markings.
1.2. Screw in fastening screws -2- and tighten slightly.
1.3. Carefully close the rear lid and check that the lower part of the rear lock is positioned correctly.
1.4. Adjust the lower part of the rear lock -1- according to the lock.
1.5. Tighten fastening screws. Tightening torque: 8 Nm (6.0 ftlb.)±0.8 Nm (±0.5 ftlb.)

Installing lower part of rear lock (vehicles with closing aid)







1. Check gap dimensions of rear lid and adjust if necessary. Refer to Adjusting rear lid.
2. Install lower part of rear lock.







2.1. Position lower part of rear lock -2- in line with the markings -arrow-.
2.2. Screw in fastening screws -1- and tighten slightly.
2.3. Close the rear lid with slight pressure by pressing on the centre (handle area) until it engages in the first notch of the lower part of the rear lock -2- and check that the lower part of the rear lock engages correctly in the upper part of the lock.
2.4. Adjust the lower part of the rear lock -2- in line with the upper part of the lock.
2.5. Tighten fastening screws -1-.
Tightening torque: 8 Nm (6.0 ftlb.)±0.8 Nm (±0.5 ftlb.)

3. Press in connector -1- on lower part of rear lock -2- (-arrow-) until the connector -1- locks with an audible click.







4. Check closing force of lower part of lock.
4.1. Close the rear lid with slight pressure by pressing on the centre (handle area) until it engages in the first notch of the lower part of the rear lock. Then press it slowly into the second notch.
4.2. Check closing force of lower part of rear lock and re-adjust it if necessary by loosening the fastening screws.

5. Check gap dimensions of rear lid and adjust if necessary. Refer to Adjusting rear lid.
6. Position plastic foam -1- on the lock support -arrow-.

1. Install cover for lock support. Refer to Removing and installing cover for lock support.
