Removing Turbocharger
Removing Turbocharger
Preliminary work
1. Remove engine.
2. Remove primary catalytic converters.
Component overview
Removing turbocharger, cylinder row 1 - 4
1. Remove hose line from the vacuum unit of the bypass valve. Where hose is tight, carefully lever off with a screwdriver. Then pull off the control pressure line from the turbocharger. To do so, carefully insert a small screwdriver in the metal ring so as to open it.
2. Remove coolant supply line. For this, open the spring band clamp on the coolant line above the coolant distribution pipe and remove it.
3. The position of all clamps should be marked by means of a felt tip pen prior to any further assembly.
4. Release the 4 clamps on the coolant supply line.
5. Release the sheetmetal holder on oil supply line. To do this, loosen the fastening nut (M6).
6. Release the oil supply line on the camshaft housing.
7. Release vent line on the oil collection container and place this on one side.
8. Separate the coolant return line next to the generator. To do this, remove the spring band clamp and pull off the rubber line. Then release the fastening screw on the holding clamp.
9. Release the oil return line on the oil-filter console.
10. Remove turbocharger mount. To do this, loosen two upper fastening screws. Then unscrew the lower screw and remove the support.
NOTE:
- When removing the turbocharger note the connection points of the lines.
- If the two lines that are screwed on the turbocharger need to be released, their position must be marked prior to these being released. During installation, the lines must be stress-free and must not be bent.
11. Remove the turbocharger. To do so, undo the 3 fastening screws and remove the turbocharger.
Removing turbocharger, cylinder row 5 - 8
1. Remove hose line from the vacuum unit of the bypass valve. Where hose is tight, carefully lever off with a screwdriver. Then pull off the ambient air line. To do this, press on the button on the left and right on the neck and remove the line.
2. Mark the position of the line mounts (3 ea.) with a felt tip pen and then loosen.
3. Release upper oil line on the oil tank and place slightly to one side.
4. Remove coolant line between the turbocharger and coolant distribution pipe. To do this, release the line on the turbocharger and then on the coolant distribution pipe.
5. Then release the upper coolant line on the turbocharger and place on one side.
6. Release the oil supply line on the camshaft housing. Subsequently loosen the sheetmetal holder.
7. Release the left oil suction line on the oil-filter console and pull out slightly.
8. Remove turbocharger support. To do this, release the screw on the turbocharger and subsequently release the two fastening screws on the camshaft housing. Remove the support.
NOTE:
- When removing the turbocharger note the connection points of the lines.
- If the two lines that are screwed on the turbocharger need to be released, their position must be marked prior to these being released. During installation, the lines must be stress-free and must not be bent.
9. Remove the turbocharger. To do so, undo the 3 fastening screws and pull the turbocharger out from the side. The seal between the elbow and the turbocharger must not be used anymore.
