Removing And Installing Front Door Window

Preliminary work
1. Removing front door sub-frame
1.1. Refer to Removing and installing front door sub-frame.
Removing front door window
Remove power window motor:
1. Release electric connector -3- and pull it off ( -arrow A- ).
2. Unscrew fastening screws -2- and remove power window motor.
Remove side window:
3. Unscrew fastening screws -5- of the fastening parts -4-.
4. Open fastening parts ( -arrows B- ) and remove side window -6- in a downward direction ( -arrows C- ).
5. Remove fastening parts -4- from sliding pads -7-.
Installing front door window
INFORMATION:
- After model year 2006, once existing stocks of uncoated door windows have run out, only door windows with hydrophobic coating will be available as spare parts.
- These windows can even be installed on vehicles produced up to model year 2006.
- In each individual case, however, it would then be important to check whether the door window remaining in the vehicle should be coated. Refer to Reworking (coating) front door window
Install door window:
1. Possible variants:
1.1. Side window made of single-sheet safety glass: fastening parts must be fitted separately to the sliding pads
1.2. Side window made of laminated safety glass: fastening parts are already fitted to the side window
2. Place fastening parts -4- on sliding pads -7-.
3. Guide in side window -6- and insert into fastening parts -4-.
4. Manually close the side window -6- ( -arrows A- ) and apply greater force to press it into and parallel with the guide in the direction of the B-pillar ( -arrows B- ).
5. Close fastening elements -4- ( -arrows C- ) and screw in and tighten fastening screws -5-. Tightening torque: 3.5 Nm (2.5 ftlb.) ± 0.5 Nm (±0.5 ftlb.).
Install power window motor:
6. Insert power window motor -1- and screw in and tighten fastening screws -2-. Tightening torque: 3.0 Nm (2.0 ftlb.) ± 0.5 Nm (±0.5 ftlb.) to the specified tightening torque.
7. Insert electric connectors -3- until they engage securely ( -arrow D- ).
