Replacing Guide Rail (Folding Sports Bucket Seat)
Technical values
Preliminary work
1. Remove sports bucket seat. Refer to Removing and installing folding sports bucket seat
2. Fit sports bucket seat on assembly fixture. Refer to Mounting front seat on assembly fixture
INFORMATION: The very front seat position is used to relieve the tension spring on the guide rail.
3. Move sports bucket seat to the very front position.
4. Remove front seat frame. Refer to Removing and installing front seat frame (folding sports bucket seat)
INFORMATION: Only for passenger seat in USA/Canada vehicles.
5. Remove wire harness for AWS. Refer to Removing and installing wire harness for AWS (folding sports bucket seat)
Removing guide rail
1. Remove front inner bracket.
1.1. Unscrew fastening screws -1-.
1.2. Take off front inner bracket -2- ( -arrow A- ).
1.3. Remove screw-on plate -3- from the guide rail -4- ( -arrow B- ).
2. Remove rear inner bracket.
2.1. Unscrew fastening screws -1-.
2.2. Take off rear inner bracket -2- ( -arrow A- ).
2.3. Remove screw-on plate -3- from the guide rail -4- ( -arrow B- ).
3. Remove outer bracket.
3.1. Unscrew fastening screws -1-.
3.2. Take off outer bracket -2- ( -arrow A- ).
3.3. Remove screw-on plate -3- and -4- from the guide rail -5- ( -arrows B- )
4. Disengage tension spring -1- from the outer guide rail -2- ( -arrow- ).
5. Disengage locking spring -1- on the fore/aft adjustment lever -2- ( -arrow- ).
6. Remove fore/aft adjustment lever.
6.1. Open locking mechanism -1- on the seat mounting -2- ( -arrow A- ).
6.2. Pull seat mounting -2- and outer guide rail -3- out of the fore/aft adjustment lever -4- ( -arrow B- ).
6.3. Disengage fore/aft adjustment lever -4- from the inner guide rail -5- ( -arrow C- ).
7. Release inner guide rail -1- from the seat mounting and remove it -arrow A-.
8. Release outer guide rail -2- from the seat mounting and remove it -arrow B-.
Removing guide rail (passenger seat with seat occupancy detection)
DANGER: Loosening threaded connection for console and AWS sensors.
- Passenger's airbag is triggered incorrectly.
- The threaded connection for the consoles and AWS sensors must not be loosened.
- The guide rail must always be replaced complete with console and AWS sensors during servicing and reworking.
1. Disengage tension spring -1- from the outer guide rail -2- ( -arrow- ).
2. Disengage locking spring -1- on the fore/aft adjustment lever -2- ( -arrow- ).
3. Remove fore/aft adjustment lever.
3.1. Open locking mechanism -1- on the seat mounting -2- ( -arrow A- ).
3.2. Pull seat mounting -2- and outer guide rail -3- out of the fore/aft adjustment lever -4- ( -arrow B- ).
3.3. Disengage fore/aft adjustment lever -4- from the inner guide rail -5- ( -arrow C- ).
4. Release inner guide rail -1- from the seat mounting and remove it -arrow A-.
5. Release outer guide rail -2- from the seat mounting and remove it -arrow B-.
Installing guide rail
Installing guide rail (passenger seat with seat occupancy detection)
1. Position outer guide rail -2- on the seat mounting -arrow A- and lock it.
2. Position inner guide rail -1- on the seat mounting -arrow B- and lock it.
3. Move guide rail -1- and -2- to the front-most position (parallel) until they engage securely by pressing -arrow A- the lever -3- ( -arrow B- ).
4. Grease inner -1- and outer guide rail -2- at the contact points (fore/aft adjustment lever).
5. Install fore/aft adjustment lever.
5.1. Engage fore/aft adjustment lever -4- at the inner guide rail -5- ( -arrow A- ).
5.2. Move outer guide rail -3- by sliding in the seat mounting -2- until the guide rail is connected to the fore/aft adjustment lever -4- ( -arrow B- ).
5.3. Close locking mechanism -1- on the seat mounting -2- ( -arrow C- ).
6. Engage locking spring -1- on the fore/aft adjustment lever -2- ( -arrow- ).
7. Engage tension spring -1- on the outer guide rail -2- ( -arrow- ).
Installing guide rail
DANGER: Loosen the safety-related threaded joint.
- Danger of injury if bracket is not screwed on correctly.
- Always replace fastening screws for bracket.
- Never make alterations to the micro-self-locking fastening screws (e.g. never use lubricant, loosen fastening screws, and screw them on again).
1. Position outer guide rail -2- on the seat mounting -arrow A- and lock it.
2. Position inner guide rail -1- on the seat mounting -arrow B- and lock it.
3. Grease inner -1- and outer guide rail -2- at the contact points (fore/aft adjustment lever).
4. Move guide rail -1- and -2- to the very front position (parallel) until they engage securely by pressing -arrow A- the lever -3- ( -arrow B- ).
5. Install fore/aft adjustment lever.
5.1. Position fore/aft adjustment lever -4- on the inner guide rail -5- ( -arrow A- ).
5.2. Move outer guide rail -3- by sliding in the seat mounting -2- until the guide rail is connected to the fore/aft adjustment lever -4- ( -arrow B- ).
5.3. Close locking mechanism -1- on the seat mounting -2- ( -arrow C- ).
6. Engage locking spring -1- on the fore/aft adjustment lever -2- ( -arrow- ).
7. Engage tension spring -1- on the outer guide rail -2- ( -arrow- ).
8. Install outer bracket.
8.1. Slide screw-on plate -3- and -4- into the outer guide rail -5- ( -arrows A- ).
8.2. Position outer bracket -2- ( -arrow B- ) and secure with the fastening screws -1-. Tightening torque: 27 Nm (20 ftlb.) +3 Nm (+2 ftlb.)
9. Install rear inner bracket.
9.1. Slide screw-on plate -3- into the inner guide rail -4- ( -arrow A- ).
9.2. Position rear inner bracket -2- ( -arrow B- ) and secure with the fastening screws -1-. Tightening torque: 27 Nm (20 ftlb.) +3 Nm (+2 ftlb.)
10. Install front inner bracket.
10.1. Slide screw-on plate -3- into the inner guide rail -4- ( -arrow A- ).
10.2. Position front inner bracket -2- ( -arrow B- ) and secure with the fastening screws -1-. Tightening torque: 27 Nm (20 ftlb.) +3 Nm (+2 ftlb.)
Subsequent work
INFORMATION: Only for passenger seat in USA/Canada vehicles.
1. Install wire harness for AWS. Refer to Removing and installing wire harness for AWS (folding sports bucket seat)
2. Install front seat frame. Refer to Removing and installing front seat frame (folding sports bucket seat)
