Pre And Main Catalytic ConvertersThe use of modern catalytic converter technology with ceramic pre and main converters ensures optimum emission control values. Front pipe insulation between the pre and main converter shortens the light-off time of the main converters and limits the level of heat radiated into the luggage compartment.
In order to ensure that the pre-catalytic converter is heated up rapidly and that the conversion of pollutants begins quickly (the converters' operating temperature begins at approx. 660 °F./350 °C), the precatalytic converter is relatively small, with a diameter of approx. 102 mm and a length of approx. 75 mm.
The main catalytic converter, which has been integrated in the main muffler for reasons of space, has a diameter of 118 mm and a length of 90 mm.
