The use of modern catalytic converter technology with ceramic pre and main converters ensures optimum emission control values. Front pipe insulation between the pre and main converter shortens the light-off time of the main converters and limits the level of heat radiated into the luggage compartment.

In order to ensure that the pre-catalytic converter is heated up rapidly and that the conversion of pollutants begins quickly (the converters' operating temperature begins at approx. 660 °F./350 °C), the precatalytic converter is relatively small, with a diameter of approx. 102 mm and a length of approx. 75 mm.

The main catalytic converter, which has been integrated in the main muffler for reasons of space, has a diameter of 118 mm and a length of 90 mm.
