These "symptom-based repair instructions" replace the instructions dated 04.10.2006.

General information
Symptoms
- Creaking noises from around the seat/centre console,
- existing protective film is damaged or has become detached or dull.
Causes and remedial action
Cause
Depending on installation and component tolerances, creaking noises can come from the adaptive sports seat when it is positioned as far back and as far down as it can go when driving around corners as a result of friction between the backrest side bolsters and centre console.
Remedial action
=> If a complaint is received in relation to vehicles manufactured before the date of introduction June 2005, affix protective film to the sides of the centre console.
=> If the existing protective film is damaged or has become detached or dull, replace the protective film.
Tools and materials

- Clean cloth
- Solvent naphtha
Reworking the centre console
1. Move the front seat at the left and right as far forward as it will go, and fold the backrest forward.
CAUTION
Hot components
- Risk of burns
-> Let hot components cool down.
-> Wear personal protective gear.
Information
If protective film is already affixed:
- Carefully heat it to max. 80°C using a hot-air gun and
- Starting at the top, carefully pull it off the centre console from top to bottom.
- Existing adhesive residue must be removed using a clean cloth and solvent naphtha.
2. Affix new protective film -1- to the left and right of the centre console -2- at the marked area.

3. Move front seats back to their original position.
