Preliminary work

Lift the vehicle. Refer to Lifting the vehicle

Removing front spoiler







1. Press locking pins -1- through and unclip the expanding clip -arrow-.







INFORMATION: The adhesive tape protects the paintwork on the front apron from damage when removing the front spoiler.

2. Mask the front apron -2- with adhesive tape -1-.







3. Heat the front spoiler -1- in the marked area -A- with the hot-air blower v.a.g 1416.







4. Insert a plastic wedge between the front spoiler -1- and front apron -2- and loosen the bonded joint.







5. Loosen the front spoiler -1-, starting at the middle, and remove it carefully -arrow-.
6. Remove adhesive residue -A- on the front apron -2- using the film eraser Nr.174 Pos.1 and holder Nr.174 Pos.2.







7. Pull off adhesive tape -1- ( -arrow- ) and clean bonding surfaces with isopropanol.
8. Scrape off adhesive residue on the front spoiler using a metal scraper.







9. Clean bonding surfaces with isopropanol.

Installing front spoiler

1. Cut off pins -A- on the new front spoiler -1- so that they are flush with the components.







INFORMATION: Allow approx. 20 mm extra on top of the specified lengths as a pulling aid (protective film without adhesive tape). The pulling aid makes it easier to pull off the protective film when the front spoiler is fitted.

2. Get adhesive strips ready.

A= 160 mm + 20 mm
B= 255 mm + 20 mm
C= 355 mm + 20 mm

2.1. Cut as much of the adhesive tape -A- as you need to pull it off the protective film.







3. Stick strips of adhesive tape on the front spoiler according to the designations -A, B, C-.

Place the pulling aids -X- over the edge of the front spoiler.







4. Position front spoiler -1- on the front apron -2- ( -arrows- ).







5. Fix the front spoiler -1- in place using clamping pliers.
6. Carefully pull out the pull tabs on the adhesive tape between the front spoiler -1- and front apron -2- ( -arrows- ).







7. Heat the front spoiler -1- slightly with the hot-air blower and press it on.
8. Secure the front spoiler using the expanding clips -1- by pressing in -arrows- the locking pins.







Subsequent work
