Removing and installing gas discharge lamp
Preliminary work
Remove main headlight.
Removing cap of main headlight
1. Unscrew four fastening screws -1- from the cap.
2. Release cap once at the top and twice at the bottom -a- and remove from the main headlight.
Removing gas discharge lamp
1. Turn connector to the left (bayonet lock) and pull it off.
2. Disengage both retaining bows and pull out lamp.
Installing gas discharge lamp
CAUTION: Danger of injury. Danger of material damage if bulbs are used or handled incorrectly.
- When installed, the headlight has a high voltage.
- Only bulbs specified in the bulb table may be used.
- Bulbs with a higher wattage may damage the bulb housing.
- To prevent short circuits, the load in question must be switched off when changing bulbs.
- New bulbs must be clean and free of grease. Therefore, never touch bulbs with your bare hands. To change the bulbs, use a cloth or soft paper.
- Observe the safety instructions when replacing a bulb in a Bi-Xenon headlight.
- In certain states, it is compulsory to carry spare light bulbs.
1. Replace faulty lamp. Ensure that the lamp is seated correctly when doing so.
2. Insert both retaining bows.
3. Position electric connector and turn to the right as far as it will go (bayonet lock).
Subsequent work
Installing main headlight cap
1. Position cap on main headlight and press into place, making sure that the cap engages once at the top and twice at the bottom.
2. Screw in four fastening screws -1- for the cap.
Subsequent work
Install main headlight.
Carry out functional check of headlights.
