Symptom

Air-conditioning cooling performance is reduced significantly.

Causes and remedial action

Cause

The air-conditioning pressure line becomes corroded close to the sound absorber in the engine compartment due to pitting. As a result, the air-conditioning pressure line will start to leak.

Remedial action

Replace the air-conditioning pressure line (referred to below as "line") and cut the sound absorber in the engine compartment close to the air-conditioning pressure line.

Replacing compressor/condenser line in engine area and cutting sound absorber in engine compartment

1. Remove the line between the compressor and condenser in the engine area, see -> 87431903 Removing and installing compressor/condenser line in engine area - section on "Removing" 87431903 Removing and installing compressor-condenser line in area of engine
2. Use a suitable cutting tool (e.g. a knife) to cut and remove the sound absorber in the engine compartment as instructed (width: 77 mm, height: 65 mm, see => Figure 1 ).
