Sound/Acoustics
The Boxster S (987) delivers a typical Porsche sound in every driving situation without polluting the environment with excessive noise. All noise regulations are met worldwide. One of the goals in modifying the passenger compartment sound has been to reduce background noise in the higher frequency range and to greater emphasize the sporty, load-related exhaust and intake sounds between 300 and 600 Hz.
Exhaust-gas Standard
The Boxster S complies with all current emission regulations in the relevant markets, such as EURO 4 and LEV/LEV II for the USA.
Exhaust System
The dual-flow exhaust system of the Boxster S possesses large cross sections and a resultant lower level of exhaust back pressure. The improvement in the gas cycle has led to higher power output.
The weight of the exhaust system has been optimized through the use of thinwall technology for the pipes, catalytic converters and the silencer. Heat-resistant damping elements between the main muffler and the engine system serve to damp all drive-related vibration (e.g. idling, component, engine vibrations) and provide for a particularly smooth running engine.
