Preliminary work

1. Raise the vehicle at the specified jacking points. -> 401000 Lifting the vehicle
2. Remove rear muffler. -> 263319 Removing and installing rear muffler - section on "Removing" Service and Repair

Removing seal for spur-gear cover

1. Unscrew fastening screws between transmission and mount for exhaust system and remove mount for exhaust system.





Fastening screws

Information

The spur gears are prevented from falling out. Remove spur-gear cover to prevent wheels from falling out. Wheels that fall out must not be reinstalled. If this happens, the transmission must be replaced.

2. Unscrew fastening screws for spur-gear cover and remove spur-gear cover.
3. Prevent spur gearing from falling out.

Installing seal for spur-gear cover

1. Screw in centring pin P 9321 in transmission housing.
2. Position new seal on transmission housing.
3. Position spur-gear cover on transmission housing, screw in screws -1,2 and 3- and tighten evenly by hand.

4. Screw in remaining screws and tighten in sequence -1.14-.





5. Install engine mount for exhaust system and tighten fastening screws between transmission and engine mount for exhaust system.

Subsequent work

1. Install rear mufflers. -> 263319 Removing and installing rear muffler - section on "Installing". Service and Repair
2. Check and if necessary, top up the ATF. -> 370235 Checking and topping up the ATF 370235 Checking and Topping Up ATF
