Preliminary work

1. Raise the vehicle at the prescribed jacking points. -> 400000 Lifting the vehicle
2. Remove support plate. -> 421419 Removing and installing support plate - section on "Removing" 42141900 Removing and installing support plate
3. Remove left halfshaft flange. -> 392519 Removing and installing left halfshaft flange - section on "Removing" 39251900 Removing and installing left halfshaft flange

Removing sealing ring for halfshaft flange

1. Lever the sealing ring out of the transmission.





Levering out the sealing ring

Installing sealing ring for halfshaft flange

1. Thinly coat sealing lip and outer circumference of sealing ring with Vaseline and place the sealing ring on pressure piece 9738.
2. Drive sealing ring into the transmission using pressure piece 9738.





Tapping in sealing ring

Subsequent work

1. Install left halfshaft flange. -> 392519 Removing and installing left halfshaft flange - "Installing" 39251900 Removing and installing left halfshaft flange
2. Check transmission oil and, if necessary, top up.
3. Fit support plate. -> 421419 Removing and installing support plate - section on "Installing" 42141900 Removing and installing support plate
4. Lower the vehicle.
