Mounting wheel on vehicle
The wheels of the Cayenne are secured with => see figure standard wheel bolts M14 x 1.5 x 51.
Do not confuse the Cayenne wheel bolts with the sports car wheel screws (911 and Boxster).
The wheel bolt for the Cayenne has a length of 51 mm, the disc (spherical cap) consists of steel and has a groove on it -arrow- (911 and Boxster without groove and disc consisting of aluminium. Standard length = 45 mm and GT3 = 50 mm).
On each wheel there is a => see figure security wheel bolt (theft protection) , which can be released or tightened with the master set T10190 , in which all variants of the wheel security system are present.

Information
- Use suitable commercially available tools (wrench size 19 mm). Never use an impact bolter to tighten the wheel bolts.
- => see figure Use assembly aids (threaded pin for mounting wheel) in order to exclude any possibility of heavy contact of the wheel with the brake disc. The assembly aids (threaded pins for mounting wheel) should be obtained from the Porsche Parts Service (Part No. 999.571.074.30).
- For vehicles with Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPM), every tyre set or wheel change must be communicated to the control unit. To do this, always enter the tyre type and tyre size in the instrument cluster menu item "TPM settings". The control unit then stores these values while the vehicle is driving.
- The wheel bolt consists of two parts that are permanently joined together. Other wheel bolts must not be used.
- Wheel bolts must never be reworked.
- Always replace damaged wheel bolts.
- This damage includes mechanical damage to the thread, the spherical cap and damage resulting from seizure of the bolt head bearing surface and spherical cap ring. It must be possible to rotate the spherical cap ring on the bolt shank and move it in axial direction.
- The wheel bolts and security wheel bolts must not be greased.
- Only original Cayenne wheel bolts must be used.
- Always observe the specified tightening torque of 160 Nm (118 ftlb.).
- The wheel mounting trolley can be used to make mounting easier, see Tools and Equipment.
1. Raise the vehicle at the take-up points provided using a lifting platform => 40 Lifting the vehicle.
2. Before mounting or removing a wheel, screw the => see figure assembly aids (threaded pins for mounting wheel) instead of two wheel bolts into the wheel hub. During removal only remove the three remaining wheel bolts afterwards and remove the wheel carefully, without touching the brake discs.
3. Mount wheels using standard Cayenne wheel bolts M14 x 1.5 x 51.
4. In the case of heavy soiling, clean the wheel bolts and the concavities in the wheel with a lint-free cloth.
5. Never grease the wheel bolts.
6. Screw in wheel bolts by hand and then tighten evenly. Start at the top when tightening.
