Crankcase Vent Line



Loosening and securing positive crankcase ventilation (PCV line) (includes replacing sealing rings)





Preliminary work

1. Remove right engine compartment cover.
2. Remove primary catalytic converter on the right-hand side (cylinder bank 1 to 4).
3. Remove right holder for primary catalytic converter at the crankcase. -9-





Catalytic converter holder - Turbo engine

Loosening and securing positive crankcase ventilation (PCV line) (includes replacing sealing rings)

1. Loosen the clamp. To do this, remove nut (difficult to access in vehicle). -1-





Oil circuit for turbocharger, line connection, cylinders 1 to 4

1 - Hexagon nut, M6 - Tightening torque: 6.5 Nm (5.0 ftlb.)
2 - Holding clamp
3 - Screw, M6 x 12 - Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)

2. Remove screw on the crankcase -2- and remove screw on the timing-case cover. Loosen the line. Pull line out of the crankcase. Replace sealing rings.





Positive crankcase ventilation (PCV), turbo engine M48/51

1 - Ventilation pipe with sealing ring - Tightening torque: 13 Nm (9.5 ftlb.)
2 - Screw, M6 x 12 - Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)

3. Move line with new sealing rings back into installation position.
4. Secure clamp with nut.
5. Tighten screw on the timing-case cover and on the crankcase.

Subsequent work

1. Fit right holder for primary catalytic converter on the crankcase. -9- - Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ftlb.)

2. Install primary catalytic converter on the right-hand side (cylinder bank 1 to 4).
3. Fit engine compartment cover.
