Symptom

Indication on climate control panel display is faulty or there is an open circuit or intermittent contact.

Causes and remedial action
Cause
Main wire harness is damaged in the area of the climate control panel connector branch.

Remedial action
Repair of damage and bundling of individual leads in the area of the climate control panel connector branch by wrapping with adhesive tape.

999.551.196.40 => Adhesive tape , 15 mm wide, 1000 mm long

Reworking the main wire harness

1. Remove the air-conditioning system regulator as described in=> 870219 Removing and installing front air-conditioning system regulator - section on "Removing".
2. Check individual leads in the area of the connector branch ( -Arrows- ) for damage.

3. Perform a repair if damage is present:

Information

The greatest care must be used in the individual work steps for stripping insulation from, crimping, and shrinking/insulating the electric lines.

The procedure for stripping insulation from, crimping, and shrinking/insulating the electric lines must be complied with and observed. The procedures are described in detail in the Repair kit for Cayenne harnesses NR.155-2.

Crimping samples are to be prepared before beginning work.

4. Bundle or fasten together leads in the area of the climate control panel connector branch using adhesive tape ( -Pos. 1- ).

5. Install the air-conditioning system regulator as described in=> 870219 Removing and installing front air-conditioning system regulator - section on "Installing".
