Bleeding

Bleeding vehicles with PDCC

Notice
Aggressive fluids
- Risk of damage to components and surfaces

- Do not spill fluids.
- If a component comes into contact with the fluid, wash the component or surface with water.
- Replace components that are already damaged.

Warning:
Caustic fluid
- Danger of chemical burns

- Avoid contact with caustic fluid.
- Wear personal protective gear.
- Ensure that there is good ventilation.
- If you do come into contact, wash off immediately with plenty of warm water and contact a doctor if necessary.

Information
It is possible to overfill the system, causing Pentosin CHF 202/11 S to overflow onto coolant hoses and other components. Before checking the fluid level, run the engine for approx. 20 seconds. Check the fluid level.

Information
The reservoir must always be replaced if individual or multiple components, such as the flow distributor, tandem pump, valve blocks (FA/RA), anti-roll bars (FA/RA) are replaced!

If system faults still occur after replacing a component (another component is defective), the reservoir does not have to be replaced again!

Only Pentosin CHF 202 may be used in the reservoir. Pentosin CHF 202 can be ordered under the following part number: Quantity supplied 1 liter = 000.043.203.33.

The reservoir must not be sucked dry! This is likely to damage the tandem pump and contaminate the system.

A dipstick with a -MAX-MIN marking- is fitted on the reservoir lid (steering hydraulics dipstick shown here). The markings are for a fluid level on a cold engine (approx. 20°C)!

1. Open the engine compartment lid and remove the left cover. Open the reservoir.
2. Fill the reservoir with Pentosin until the fluid level remains fixed.
3. Briefly start the engine, let it run for approx. 1 second and add Pentosin again. During this process, the fluid level in the reservoir may drop quickly. This depends on the quantity of oil required. Therefore, always top up with Pentosin. Repeat this process several times. If the fluid level in the reservoir does not fall any further when the engine is briefly turned over, start the engine again and let it run at idle speed.
4. Check the fluid level several times at idle speed. If the fluid level is still dropping, keep topping up until the fluid level remains constant in the reservoir. If the oil level drops to the bottom of the tank, or if several air bubbles rise to the surface and/or a significant amount of foam forms in the reservoir, air is still present in the hydraulic system. It is quite normal for a few air bubbles to appear in the reservoir immediately after topping up.
5. Switch off the engine and set the correct fluid level. This must be between the -MAX/MIN marking- (steering hydraulics dipstick shown here).

7. After completing assembly, move the vehicle into an open area to bleed it.
8. Close the doors and lids. Connect the PIWIS Tester to the vehicle.
9. One person should sit in the vehicle and select "Drive links" ] "Bleed" in the Cayenne PDCC menu in the PIWIS Tester. The vehicle body will roll to a significant degree. The 2nd worker must ensure complete safety around the vehicle!
10. Repeat the bleeding process twice. Then open the engine compartment lid and the reservoir. Check the fluid level and hydraulic fluid when the engine is running and top up with the required amount of oil. The fluid level must not drop anymore and only a few air bubbles may circulate. There must be a significant reduction in the amount of air bubbles and/or foam formation compared to Step - 4.
11. Switch off the engine and set the correct fluid level. This must be between the -MAX/MIN marking- (steering hydraulics dipstick shown here).
12. If this is not the case, the bleeding process must be repeated. If the fluid level continues to drop, the system must be visually inspected for any signs of leaks! Repeat the bleeding process following repairs.
13. After completing the tasks, fit the relevant components and close the engine compartment lid.
