Removing and installing solenoid hydraulic valve for camshaft control








Preliminary work

1. Remove air cleaner housing.

Dirt and contamination
^ Risk of damage to units or components

-> Protect components from dirt and contamination.

-> Clean or replace dirty components.

Information
^ The metal strainers on the control ducts can spring off when pulling out the valve.
^ The reason for this is that the spot-welds may have become loose due to vibrations.
^ Check during re-installation that the strainers are still in place. If the strainers are missing, the valve will have to be replaced.

1. Remove the valve.
1.1. Pull off cable plug -1- by pressing the spring clamps on the connector. Check installation position.
1.2. Unscrew two external Torx screws (E8, M5 x 12) -2-.
1.3. Pull off the valve.
1.4. If the valve is tight, use special tool relay puller 9235 to pull it off. Then protect the valve body with fabric tape.
1.5. Replace O-ring.

2. Clean sealing face and cover bore hole.

1. Fit valve with new O-ring.
1.1. Insert valve -1- and check installation position and correct cable plug position -arrow-.

1.2. Fit and tighten two external Torx screws (E8, M5 x 12) -2-.

-> Tightening torque: 8 Nm (6 ft lb.)

1.3. Connect cable plug -1-.

Subsequent work

1. Install air cleaner housing.
