Transporting the engine in the workshop

Information
^ The engine transport eyebolt -2- must only be used briefly for transporting the engine with the workshop crane and for mounting the engine on the assembly support.

Engine transport eyebolt

1 - Adapter with carabiner for lifting equipment

2 - Transport eyebolt

^ The transmission must always be removed beforehand to avoid fracturing the cast iron on the crankcase.
^ The engine must also be suspended on the engine carrier.

Engine lifting positions:

Lifting strap on engine carrier

1 - Lifting strap

2 - Lifting equipment for crane

Lifting engine with lifting equipment

1 - Lifting equipment with carabiner hook

Arrows - Suspending engine using transport eyebolt and lifting strap on the engine carrier

Transporting the engine with the workshop crane:

Mounting engine on assembly support

Individual components of the engine support:

Individual components for supporting engine and transmission

A - Engine support 9771/2

B - Engine adapter 9771

C - Mounting set 9771/1

Engine support setup on engine/transmission repair stand WW-MG 600/v WE 1171 or mobile assembly station WE 1323

Engine support assembly

1 - Mobile assembly station

2 - Engine support 9771/2

3 - Mounting set 9771/1

4 - Engine adapter

1. Secure engine adapter 9971 to the engine using six M12 screws or six mounting parts 9590. Tighten screws hand-tight only.

Information
^ The crankcase is very hard due to its material composition and as a result, there is a high risk that it will break at the flange eyes if excessive pressure is applied.
^ Given this, the engine adapter 9771 must always be screwed on at the engine flange first.
^ If this is not possible, the tightening and loosening sequence must always be observed.

Crankcase flange: Figure shows screw flange for the engine adapter -arrows-.

Mounting positions

1.1. Screw mounting set loosely to the engine adapter.
1.2. Screw engine support loosely to the mounting set, align the lever arms and then tighten screws well.
2. Lift the engine with the workshop crane and secure it on the engine assembly support.

3. The tightening and loosening sequence must always be observed when fitting the engine on or removing the engine from the engine support.

Caution
Engine housing overload.
^ Risk of engine damage if housing breaks.

-> Observe loosening and tightening sequence!

-> Loosening sequence: Loosen screws from the bottom up.

-> Tightening sequence: Tighten screws from top to bottom.

3.1. Tightening sequence: Always tighten the bottom two screws -1- last (from top to bottom).
3.2. Loosening sequence: Always loosen the bottom two screws -1- first (from the bottom up).
