Remove driver's airbag unit.
Removing multi-function control unit
INFORMATION:
- The control unit is removed and, if necessary, replaced without reading, writing or coding the data with the PIWIS Tester. This procedure is not required at present.
- When removing the locking plate, take note of how many washers are used on each fastening screw.
- During installation make sure that the washers are fitted in the same way as they were before removal.
1. Unscrew the four fastening screws -1- from the locking plate in the steering wheel and remove along with the locking plate.
2. Use a screwdriver to carefully lever the multi-function control unit out of the steering wheel.
3. Release electric plug connection -A- and disconnect it from the multi-function control unit.
Installing multi-function control unit
INFORMATION: The control unit is removed and, if necessary, replaced without reading, writing or coding the data with the PIWIS Tester. This procedure is not required at present.
1. Attach electric plug connection to multi-function control unit until the plug clicks into place.
2. Clip multi-function control unit into steering wheel. Check that it is secure.
INFORMATION:
- When removing the locking plate, take note of how many washers are used on each fastening screw.
- During installation make sure that the washers are fitted in the same way as they were before removal.
3. Position locking plate on steering wheel and screw down using the four fastening screws -1- and the washers. - Tightening torque: 4.5 ftlb.
