Bleeding Clutch Control System

Bleeding clutch control system

Information

The actuating hydraulic system is bled by pumping the pedal.

If a bleeding device filled with Pentosin is available, you can bleed the clutch in the same way as for previous systems.

The clutch high-pressure hydraulic system does not need to be bled separately. Actuating the clutch pedal approx. 10 times while the engine is running will suffice.

Cover

The supply tank (Pentosin reservoir) -2- for the actuating hydraulic system on left-hand drive vehicles is located under the left cover -A-. On right-hand drive vehicles the supply tank is located under the right cover.

Bleeding clutch - by pumping the pedal

Information
^ If a bleeding device filled with Pentosin is available, you can bleed the clutch in the same way as for previous systems.
^ To do this, connect the bleeding device to the front of the Pentosin reservoir.
^ The high-pressure hydraulic system of the clutch does not need to be bled separately. Actuating the clutch pedal approx. 10 times while the engine is running will suffice.

1. Remove cover over Pentosin reservoir. To do this, the battery cover must also be removed.

2. Fill the Pentosin reservoir -2- (for actuating hydraulic system). Counter at the Pentosin reservoir when opening the cap.
3. Connect a collecting bottle (with a transparent hose) to the bleeder valve -arrow- on the clutch slave cylinder. Then open the bleeder valve -arrow-.

Clutch slave cylinder/bleeder valve

4. Afterwards, activate complete pedal travel manually very slowly (with the clutch pedal).

Information
^ Make sure that the supply tank is not sucked dry. Top up if necessary!

After about 10 pedal strokes, leave the pedal in its normal position. Then close the bleeder valve (enlist assistance of 2 mechanics).

5. Fill the transparent supply tank with fresh Pentosin and continue bleeding. Open the bleeder valve -arrow- at the clutch slave cylinder and then activate complete clutch pedal travel manually very slowly until no more air bubbles appear at the bleeder valve -arrow- (at the collecting bottle with transparent hose). Then close the bleeder valve.

Information: Pentosin can be disposed of together with waste oil.

6. Top up the fluid level for the transparent supply tank -2- (correct using Pentosin hydraulic fluid/must lie between the Min. and Max. marking). Then screw on the lid (green). Counter the tank when doing this.

7. Activate the clutch pedal slowly, five times.
8. Fit cover -A- over Pentosin reservoir.

Bleeding the clutch - with bleeding device

In general, a minimum filling time of 90 seconds must be observed.

1. Fill the Pentosin reservoir -2- (for the clutch actuating hydraulic system) with fresh Pentosin. Counter at the Pentosin reservoir (green lid with white edge) when opening the cap.

Connect the bleeding device, which is filled with Pentosin, to the reservoir (Pentosin reservoir) -2-.

Switch on the bleeding device and set an overpressure of approx. 1.3 bar.

2. Connect a collecting bottle (with a transparent hose) to the bleeder valve -arrow- on the clutch slave cylinder. Then open the bleeder valve -arrow-.

3. Move clutch pedal extremely slowly to the "Pedal fully depressed" position. When doing so, guide the pedal by hand so that it does not move forward abruptly.
4. Allow the Pentosin to rinse through for 30 seconds.
5. Afterwards, activate complete pedal travel manually very slowly for a further 60 seconds. After about 10 to 15 pedal strokes, leave the pedal in its normal position. Once this filling period has elapsed, check that no more bubbles appear at the bleeder valve (at the collecting bottle with transparent hose). Then close the bleeder valve.
6. Switch off and disconnect the bleeding device. Correct the fluid level for the transparent supply tank -2- (Pentosin hydraulic fluid/must lie between the Min. and Max. marking). Then screw on the lid. Counter the tank when doing this.

7. Activate the clutch pedal slowly, five times.
8. Fit cover -A- over Pentosin reservoir.
