Symptoms

Creaking noises from around the engine compartment lid.

Causes and remedial action

Loss of torque at the threaded joint on the engine compartment lid as a result of settling behaviour of the body when the vehicle is driven.

If a complaint is received in relation to vehicles manufactured before the date of introduction February 2005, loosen the threaded joint on the engine compartment lid and then tighten it to the required torque again to resolve the problem.

Preliminary work

1. Remove trim panel for convertible top rest. -> 700819 Removing and installing trim panel for convertible top rest - section on "Removing" 700819 Removing and installing trim panel for convertible top rest/engine compartment lid

Reworking engine compartment lid

1. Loosen the fastening screws -1- , check the position of the engine compartment lid -2- and then tighten the fastening screws to the required torque again. => Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)





Installing engine compartment lid
