Installing tension straps
INFORMATION:
- If the aluminium rivets for securing the tension strap are drilled out too big/too deeply, the main folding top bow and corner bow can become damaged. Check the drill bit diameter and drill depth required for the rivets from the parts package (rivets Diameter: 4 mm, Length: 12 mm).
- During repair work, drilling chips can fall into the inside of the tension bow when boring out blind rivets.
- For corrosion protection reasons, the tension bow must be cleared using compressed air. The tension bow must then be treated with cavity preservation.
- In March 2008, Production introduced a modification to the tension bow.
- The missing bore for securing the long tension strap must be drilled out when replacing the tension bow on vehicles that were manufactured before the specified date of introduction.
- Drill a hole in the tension bow at the left and right at dimension -X= 253 mm- and dimension -Y= 9 mm- using a 4 mm drill bit.
