Removing timing chain
Removing timing chain
Information:
If the timing chain has to be removed or replaced, check the guide and tensioning rails as well as the chain pinions for wear and scoring and replace them if necessary.
Information:
The rolling direction of the timing chain must always be the same.
If the timing chain is to be reused, the rolling direction of the timing chain must be marked before it is removed.
1. Loosen the fastening screws on the camshaft timing gears and camshaft controllers (by one or two turns). To do this, counter at the hexagon on the camshaft controller and camshaft timing gear using a ring wrench.

2. Remove timing chain from all sprockets by pulling it forwards.
Installing timing chain
Installing timing chain
Camshaft timing gears and camshaft controllers must be fitted and it must be possible to turn them (without tilting).
Information:
If the timing chain has to be removed or replaced, check the guide and tensioning rails as well as the chain pinions for wear and scoring and replace them if necessary.
1. Check that the guide and tensioning rails are installed at the correct position.
Information:
The rolling direction of the timing chain must always be the same.
If the timing chain is to be reused, the rolling direction of the timing chain must be marked before it is removed.
2. Place timing chain loosely on all sprockets. Ensure that the timing chain is positioned correctly on the guide rails.
