1. Remove design cover of bar ignition modules and throttle valve.

1 - Engine ventilation - Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)

Cylinder bank 1 to 4

1. Disconnect cable connection on the connection piece for the oil mist separator -1-. Check sealing ring and replace it if necessary.

2. Loosen both screws -2-. Screws are permanently connected. If screws are damaged, press the screws out of the oil mist separator and replace them.
3. Hold oil mist separator at the left and right and pull carefully out of the bore in the valve cover by joggling it. At the same time check the gaskets and replace them if damaged.

4. Disconnect cable connections to the connection piece on the oil mist separator: Naturally aspirated engine -1 and 2-, Turbo engine -arrows-. Check sealing ring and replace it if necessary.

5. Loosen both screws -3-. Screws are permanently connected. If screws are damaged, press the screws out of the oil mist separator and replace them.
6. Hold oil mist separator at the rear and pull carefully out of the bore in the valve cover by joggling it. At the same time check the gaskets and replace them if damaged. Lift carefully, as the oil return line is still fitted.

7. Detach oil return line underneath the oil mist separator at the plastic connection piece -arrow-. Loosen spring band clamp if necessary (Turbo) -arrow-.

The installation procedure for cylinder banks 1 to 4 and 5 to 8 is essentially the same.

1. Check gaskets on oil mist separator and replace if damaged. -1, 2 and 3-

2. Lubricate sealing rings on connection piece on oil mist separator with grease 000.043.204.68 (Kluber Syntheso Glep 1). -3-
3. Place oil mist separator in installation position.
4. Fit oil return line underneath the oil mist separator on the plastic connection piece -arrow-. Fit spring band clamp if necessary (Turbo) -arrow-.

5. Place oil mist separator uniformly and carefully onto the valve cover using both hands. Press connection piece of oil mist separator into bore in valve cover.
6. Screw in and tighten screws for oil mist separator -3-. Screws are permanently connected. If screws are damaged, press the screws out of the oil mist separator and replace them. - Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)
7. Fit cable connections to the connection piece on the oil mist separator: Naturally aspirated engine -1 and 2-, Turbo engine -arrows-. Check sealing ring and replace it if necessary.
