Replacing High-Pressure Fuel Injector
Information
This Technical Information replaces the previous TI No. 30/07 dated June 6, 2007.
Changes compared to the previous TI:
- Replace the injectors individually or all together, depending on the engine number.
Vehicle Type:
Cayenne S
Model Year:
As of 2008 up to 2009
Concerns:
High-pressure fuel injector (referred to below as injector)
Information:
Effective immediately, the injectors can be replaced individually in the event of repairs, depending on the engine number.
Information
In the event of repairs to engines manufactured before the engine number specified under "Date of introduction", all four injectors must still be replaced (as instructed in Step 2).
Date of Introduction:
As of engine no.:
M48.01 M901857
Parts Info:
948.110.128.20 New/--> High-pressure injector (low flow)
948.110.128.30 New/--> High-pressure injector (high flow)
Work Procedure:
1. For engines manufactured after the specified engine number:
--> Remove the affected injector and install a new injector with the same part number as shown on the removed injector.
2. For engines manufactured before the specified engine number:
--> In the event of repairs, replace all four injectors in a cylinder bank with new injectors with Part No. 948.110.128.30.
Contrary to existing instructions, which stipulate that all four injectors in a cylinder bank must be replaced during repair work for an "injector mileage" > 10,000 km (6,000 miles), the following information applies to the vehicles listed below:
If at least one of the injectors in a cylinder bank needs to be replaced on one of the engines in the specified vehicles, all four injectors in the affected cylinder bank must be replaced "once" even if the "injector mileage" is <10,000 km (6,000 miles).
To determine whether the injectors have already been replaced and to find out the"injector mileage", please refer to the following chapter in the Workshop Manual --> Workshop Manual' 244055 Replacing DFI high-pressure fuel injector -IMPORTANT.'
