Removing And Installing Padding For Front Backrest

Preliminary work

1. Remove cover for front backrest. Refer to Removing and installing backrest centre strip.

INFORMATION: Only for vehicles with heated seats.

2. Remove cover for inner backrest. Refer to Removing and installing backrest cover.

Removing padding for front backrest

Releasing wire harness for backrest seat heating







INFORMATION: Only for vehicles with heated seats.

1. Release wire harness on backrest frame.
1.1. Unclip fixing clip -1-.
1.2. Cut tie-wrap -2-.







2. Release wire harness on seat frame.
2.1. Cut tie-wrap -1- and disengage wire harness -2- ( -arrow A- ).
2.2. Disconnect electric plug connection -3- for backrest seat heating -arrows B-.







INFORMATION: Make sure not to trap or damage the wire harness when pulling it through.

3. Pull wire harness out through the seat and backrest frame.







Removing padding for front backrest







1. Loosen padding -1- carefully by hand and remove it from the cushion carrier -2-.







2. Remove residual adhesive -1- and clean sealing surface of backrest frame -2- with cleaning agent.







Removing padding for front backrest







1. Disengage padding -1- laterally from the cushion carrier -3-.







2. Loosen padding -2- carefully by hand and remove it from the cushion carrier -3-.
3. Remove residual adhesive -1- and clean sealing surface of cushion carrier -2- with cleaning agent.







Installing padding for front backrest







INFORMATION: Sealing surface of backrest frame must be clean and free of grease.

1. Apply adhesive -1- to the marked area of the padding -2-.







2. Place padding -1- on the cushion carrier -2- and align it with the cushion carrier.







Installing padding for front backrest







INFORMATION: Sealing surface of padding must be clean and free of grease.

1. Apply adhesive -1- to the marked area of the padding -2-.







2. Place padding -2- on the cushion carrier -3- and align it with the cushion carrier.







3. Engage padding -1- in the cushion carrier at the sides.

Securing wire harness for backrest seat heating







INFORMATION:
- Make sure not to trap or damage the wire harness when pulling it through.
- Only for vehicles with heated seats.

1. Pull wire harness through the seat and backrest frame.







2. Secure wire harness on seat frame.
2.1. Connect electric plug connection -3- for backrest seat heating -arrows A-.
2.2. Engage wire harness -2- (-arrow C-) and secure with new tie-wraps -1-.







3. Secure wire harness on backrest frame.
3.1. Press in fixing clip -1-.
3.2. Secure wire harness with new tie-wraps -2-.







Checking seat following removal

1. Connect the removed seat to the vehicle's wiring harness via test cable 9745 and test cable 9745/1.
2. Connect electric plug to control module trim panel. Refer to Removing and installing control module trim panel.
3. Connect the battery. Refer to Work instructions after disconnecting the battery.
4. Switch on ignition.
5. Carry out a function check on the seat components.
6. Switch off ignition after function test and disconnect battery.
7. Disconnect test cable 9745 and test cable 9745/1.

Subsequent work

INFORMATION: Only for vehicles with heated seats.

1. Install cover for inner backrest. Refer to Removing and installing backrest cover.
2. Install cover for front backrest. Refer to Removing and installing backrest centre strip.
